This is a new, first time vacation/short term rental -- furnishings, kitchen appliances, dinner and glassware....everything is brand new. Several lovely antique pieces add to the New England coastal cottage charm. Skylights and glass sliders bring the outside in - watch the boats and listen to the gulls cry as you sip your coffee while planning your day.
Fully fenced private yard to welcome the entire family - 2 legged and 4 legged! The Village of Essex is known for being wonderfully dog-friendly and a very special, picturesque walking destination.
The Cottage -- I live in the 'Main House' that is at 60 Main Street - it is the big white antique colonial with white picket fence at the corner of Main and Novelty -- the Cottage is the former carriage house for the property......it is about 1100+ sq.ft, brand new plush pillowtop queen bed in master, writing desk & desk chair, 2 closets, brand new 32-in flat screen tvs in the bedrooms and the living room, wireless throughout the house, new full size pottery barn white slip covered sofa and 2 new white slipcovered club chairs in living room, marble top cafe (37') table and 2 chairs in breakfast nook, oval antique English pine dining table with 6 full size white Italian leather chairs in dining area, antiquie English country pine hutch, small kitchen with gas stove, new frig, all new appliances/housewares/dishes/glassware/utensils, marble top full size french counter, all windows/glass sliders out to good size field stone walled patio, fenced yard, water view, 1 car garage and parking for 2 add'l cars in small driveway. There is a wood burning fireplace, brand new window air conditioning units throughout house plus new box fans, brand new gas grill plus new charcoal grill, Full bath attached to master bedroom, master bedroom has lots of built in storage, closet space and bath has tons of storage as well, full washer & dryer, 2nd bedroom is smaller but has brand new plush pillowtop full-size/double bed, dresser, cable tv, another full size bath (shower no tub) is outside this bedroom's door and this little 'wing' can be closed off from the rest of the house for additional privacy if desired.
The house has skylights over the entire living room and with the glass sliders and skylights, it is amazingly bright and sunny - with the sliders open you totally bring the outdoors in! The decor is high end 'coastal' with light colored antique European country pine, white slipcovers, shades of blue, original watercolor art on the walls.....very serene and relaxing but right in the center of it all! The CT River Museum is right around the corner.....
Right now there is a local couple renting for March & April while their house is being renovated -- they absolutely love the cottage and don't want to leave! It is furnished, again, with all brand new (they are the very first tenants) items from Sferra, Peacock Alley, Pinecone Hill, Horchow, Restoration Hardware, Crate & Barrel, Pottery Barn -- this is not a typical vacation rental by any means........
