We stayed at Grove Cottage for nearly a week in late June 2013. It has a very pretty setting on a less-traveled road, in the hills a few miles south of Nenagh. The owner owns land and pasturage around the cottage and there are only scattered neighbors (not visible from the cottage). You’ll most likely want a car. The whole area is very interesting and pretty and not very touristy—really nice. We used the cottage as a home base for almost a week to explore Nenagh and lots of places within 50 miles or so, and although it was just a tad out of the way, that is part of its charm and it was extremely nice to come home to in the evening. You’ll need to take self-catering seriously—there are not many places to eat, even in Nenagh, in the evening, although there are some excellent choices for breakfast and lunch there. We found that people in this part of Ireland are extremely friendly and anxious to help you see the most interesting, sometimes out-of-the-way places.
Dealing with the owner was very straightforward; he was very helpful and was quite concerned that we encounter no problems during our stay. There is a nearby contact/caretaker in case of any problem. The house itself was bright, open, and roomy-feeling for its size. It does not have wireless or a CD player, but we were aware of that ahead of time and were fine with that. The two front two bedrooms smelled a little musty (but I, with an allergy to mold, ended up having no problem at all); the shower set-up takes some getting used to--but the owner gladly responds to any questions or problems. Overall we VERY much enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to stay here again.
Cottage is located in a very quite area. No cars, trucks, machinery or annoying people shouting. Very comfortable and meets all requirements to make one's holiday a relaxing one. Rooms are large. The back garden is a heaven on earth. Early morning risers will be greated with plenty of fresh air and bird songs. So relaxing indeed!!!! Owner is very friendly and communication with him is great. A must for a relaxing holiday away from the busy daily schedules. Highly recommended. Kevin, Nancy, John, Glorian (Malta)
Our family stayed in this cottage in July 2012. It was the perfect home away from home for us. There was enough room for my 3 active boys to play outside and have their own space inside. They loved watching different TV shows thanks to their satellite TV. The yard was huge and there were outside games provided for them. We loved hearing the cows lowing in the distance at night. That's not something we get living in the suburbs in the U.S.
The owner was a pleasure to work with, and the caretaker was friendly and helpful.
The location of the cottage was quite rural, but the perfect distance from Nenagh, where our friend lives.
I can't imagine staying at another cottage when visiting Tipperary. And we can't wait to go back.
my husband and his friend has just returned from this cottage and they were delighted with everything about it , easily accessable , lovely countryside, fishing great , will use it again
We have had a very comfortable stay in this lovely countryside house. It has plenty of room to sleep, great ammenities and loads of space to play in the yard. The beautiful countryside is well suited for those who enjoy walking or watching sunsets with the local pub only a 5 minute stroll away. (The locals are so welcoming and friendly.) This property is perfectly situated to explore the central to southern parts of Ireland.
The communication with the owner was brilliant and he was more than accomodating when we had to shift dates. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a home away from home. It was so lovely to come 'home' and relax after a long day exploring Ireland.
A wonderful cottage for a perfect holiday. It was very clean and well maintained, and we found everything that we needed for our family holiday. The location was great, perfect to visit to the center and south of Ireland.
We would recommend this cottage for any family looking for a great and quiet holiday.
