I've lived in the Custer area for 10 years and am a South Dakota native. After living out of state for 18 years, I returned to South Dakota for a more peaceful life.

Owner/Manager purchased this cabin in 2011

I vacationed in the Custer area as a child, and returned to it because I've found the Custer area to be the perfect blend of rustic country living, beautiful scenery and friendly people. The town of Custer has all the shopping, restaurants and entertainment that anyone could possibly need without the frenzy of fast food, Walmarts and traffic that frazzle city folks lives.

This cabin is beautiful... the setting is private and quiet. The driveway is step but easily accessible. The cabin was clean and very well stocked. Property owner was wonderful, very helpful and quick to answer emails or phone calls... we arrived right after the Oct 2013 Blizzard... all was perfect. Highly recommend this cabin for a two to three family vacation the layout was perfect. We hiked and went sledding, built snowmen, went to Hill City for lunch a couple of times but mostly hung out at the cabin, relaxed, watched wildlife and let the grandkids play. Perfect for a quiet get away... to do nothing.

The house was beautiful inside and out. Very clean when we arrived. We had seven adults bit at no time did we feel cramped for space. The only problem I saw was the surroundings around the house was so grown up you couldn't walk or do much hiking on the property. The house was great and the amenities within the house was up to standard.
It was not very close to many of the attractions but that was O.K. We piled everyone into the van and took off. We covered everything we could cover in 7 days. Put over 1400 miles on the rental van. The Alpine Restaurant in Hill City was a nice place to dine. The cafe in Custer was also a nice place to have breakfast.
I would recommend the property to everyone with a large group.

Beautiful home in beautiful location!

The property description is accurate. The home is clean and well-maintained. We vacationed with 5 adults and 2 large dogs. We could have easily had twice as many people (and dogs) and been more than comfortable. The home is well-equipped with any item you may need (toiletries, cooking utensils and basics, towels and linens, etc). The surroundings are beautiful and serene. The entrance for Wind Cave National Park is about 1 mile from the home, where we saw buffalo, elk, deer, pronghorns, and prairie dogs. The owner, Jody, was helpful and friendly.

We had a family gathering in this lovely home and all 12 of us were so pleased. The home is beautiful without being fussy, and the three levels provided plenty of space. The home is set in a great location; private and less than 2 miles from Wind Cave. It is close to Custer as well. We also visited Jewel Cave, Mt. Rushmore, Deadwood, and Lead. We saw bighorn sheep, elk, bison, pronghorn, prairie dogs, burros, and loads of deer. The driveway was steep, but it wasn't an issue for us. Jody is accommodating and clear in her instructions. Thank you for providing such a pleasant place for our family to gather and just enjoy the area and each other!

Wonderful experience!

We held our family Thanksgiving celebration at this home and could not have asked for a better experience! The home was warm and comfortable and absolutely gorgeous. We can't say enough about how perfect it was. The location was great, the views were beautiful and the wildlife was amazing.
We had the full experience of a log cabin without losing the comforts of home. The owner has Internet service and satellite TV available which was mandatory with our family. The home was fully stocked with everything we needed to celebrate our holiday together.
Our expectations based on the listing were surpassed. The owner had great instructions on how everything worked and anticipated what things we may have questions on. We would recommend this property to others! The location is close to all sites in the area. We visited Rapid City, Mt Rushmore, Bear Country, Hill City (shopping and wineries) and Custer State Park (wildlife).
At the cabin, saw deer, elk and wild turkeys.
