While vacationing in Montezuma, we began walking and found ourselves in the tranquil village of Cabuya. After one day talking with the residents and exploring the village we found our vacation spot. We had Casa Ayres built that very year!
Connie Ayres- Owner purchased this house in 2007
We choose this wonderful spot because of the view of the mountains from the outdoor living space. Also the house is located a short walk or bike ride to the market and several restaurants. The road in front of the house will take you over the mountain to MalPais and Santa Teresa, in less than half an hour!
Enjoy this beautiful, tranquil village of Cabuya in the comfort of your home away from home. Casa Ayres is fully equipped to make your vacation as easy and relaxing as being in your own backyard, if you have monkeys, parrots, iguanas, and tropical gardens out you door! Swing in the hammocks while enjoying the views or catching a siesta!
Great setting at Casa Ayres with everything we needed. The porch was a great bird-watching "hide", to see many species in the shade trees or the hibiscus hedge, and collared aracaii, blue magpies, and woodpeckers eating the bananas. The wi-fi connection as reliable and we enjoyed our neighbor's company and our dinners at the Panaderia, Delfin de Luna, and Coyote Cafe. Many thanks for an unforgettable experience!
This home was one of our favorites while in Costa Rica! It is within walking distance to beautiful beaches that were mostly secluded, restaurants that served great food, two markets for grocery shopping, along with so many other forms of entertainment for a family to enjoy. One of our favorite things to see was Cemetery Island, which we could walk out to during the low tide. Our family originally wanted to stay in Montezuma however we were lucky enough to land accommodations in Cabuya. The little village of Cobuya was just the hidden gem that we were looking for. This village is full of friendly people from all over. We always felt welcomed by everyone. The house is in a very central location within Cabuya, but also off the road enough to feel private. The outdoor area was such a peaceful place to relax in. We had Monkeys that visited in the trees everyday, a little white bunny that came into the yard and followed the kids around and even let them pet it, horses in the pasture right next to the property, as well as a bunch of different birds to watch. This house also included many little details that were greatly appreciated. They had games available for the family and kids to play, books to read including informative books about Costa Rica, speakers to plug your computer or IPads into to listen to music. I highly recommend this property for any family to stay in!
Cabuya is a tranquil, ocean side village with 3 kilometers of unspoiled beaches located at the tip of the Nicoya Peninsula. This area is known as a Blue Zone, one of only five in the entire world. A Costa Rican man has about twice the chance of reaching age 90 as does a man living in the United States, France,or even Japan. Costa Ricans like those in the other Blue Zones, eat rich, colorful fruits and vegetables. High amounts of calcium and magnesium, essential for bone and muscle strength, abound in Nicoya's water.
The Rio Lajas River is the entrance to the village of Cabuya, and is where you will find beautiful waterfalls and natural swimming pools that provide a background to exotic birdwatching.
Casa Ayres is an easy walk to markets, restaurants, the Cabo Blanco Reserve, the ocean and local bus lines. Local fishermen sell their catch daily and will take you out on the water for a fee. Yoga and massage are also available in the village. We have two surf breaks in Cabuya and we are only 4 miles from the famous surf spots of Mal Pais and Santa Teresa. The resort town of Montezuma is also only 4 miles away. Just 1 kilometer off the beach line of Cabuya is the Island of Cabuya, a spot for fishing and snorkeling. This Island is accessible only at low tide when the rocky path is clearly visible.
