Experience 1930’s Hollywood Glamour in this elegantly decorated home in a 2,000 square foot (185 square meter) Spanish Colonial duplex with 2 bedrooms, 2 baths plus fully equipped office.

LOCATION:

Located in the historically-protected 1930’s neighborhood of South Carthay, this flat near La Cienega and Olympic is just minutes to Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, the Miracle Mile district of Los Angeles and the 10 freeway. Bounded by Olympic, Pico, La Cienega and Fairfax, South Carthay is close to a great selection of shops, museums, galleries and restaurants.

DESCRIPTION:

This 2-bedroom + 2 bathroom + office flat is located on the top floor of an architecturally-significant, 1936 Spanish duplex. Located on a corner, the second-floor unit is both light and spacious. Original architectural details abound including: beautiful hardwood floors, crown moldings, stained & leaded glass, hand-carved fireplace mantel, beamed ceilings and period tile in the kitchen and baths. Furnishings are both luxurious and stylish. The private, fenced garden is approximately 2,000 square foot and has a table, chairs, chaises and a fountain.

LIVING ROOM:

The generously proportioned living room contains a baby grand piano, a fireplace, an over-sized, down-filled sofa modeled after one designed by Coco Chanel, and a pair of deco-inspired club chairs.

DINING ROOM:

With twelve-inch thick crown moldings, the dining room can easily host a dinner for two to ten people.

BREAKFAST ROOM:

The breakfast room has a table and four chairs.

MASTER BEDROOM:

The master bedroom on a king-sized, Tempurpedic mattress with a headboard made from a French Quarter balcony railing in New Orleans. Light and bright during the day with its western exposure, the room can be made cozy and dark by closing the striped, silk drapes which are lined with blackout curtains.

MASTER BATHROOM:

The en suite, spacious master bathroom has a separate bathtub and shower stall each of which has a graceful, tiled entrance.

SECOND BEDROOM:

With the sound of the back yard fountain trickling in through the windows, this bedroom's room’s queen sized bed offers a perfect place to unwind from a day of exploring Los Angeles’ many sights.

SECOND BATHROOM:

The en suite, tiled bathroom has a toilet, shower stall (no bath tub) and pedestal sink.

OFFICE/STUDY:

Perfect for someone visiting Los Angeles for work, a third bedroom is used as an office/study. Complete with desk, wi-fi, printer and scanner, the office provides all you need to effectively work from this home...just bring your computer. The technology closet in this office also contains the broadband internet, wireless router and sound system with speakers throughout the house.

KITCHEN:

The period tile, O’Keefe & Merritt stove and the bright, southern exposure combine to create a charming kitchen that will make you want to cook.

LAUNDRY ROOM:

Full sized, front loading washer and dryer are provided, along with a professional steamer, vacuum, mop and broom.

YARD:

As you go down the back stairs, you will be taken by the large, beautifully landscaped, private back yard. The brick patio, the green lawn and the extensively planted flower beds provide a multitude of ways to enjoy the outdoors. With approximately 2,000 square feet (185 square meter) and anchored by a trickling fountain, you can relax in the sun during the day on the over-sized chaises or dine at night under the stars at the table.

I bought this home when I came to Los Angeles to attend USC while my partner attended UCLA. The home was in between the two provided us the space and the comfort and the elegance that we sought. Plus, the huge yard was an added benefit.

A tasteful AND homy house!

Staying in LA can be a challenge. Counting on sleepless nights, no evening walks and a noisy 2 weeks we got surprised.
This house is not only very tasteful but also fantastic to live in!
A very comfortable bed and peaceful nights, showers whit a lot of hot water, a kitchen that has everything you need and don't forget the garden: beautiful.
And: never a parking problem!
We loved to make breakfast, eat it in the cosy breakfast nook and then drink our coffee in the garden, with again, very comfortable seating!
We loved to make evening walks and than relax with a glas of wine near the fireplace. This is a secure and pleasant neighborhood!
Devan, the owner, has not only a eye for color and art, but was the easiest host we ever worked with!
Wanted to take home: the wooden flooring, the silk embroidered curtains, the fireplace, the mattress of the bed and several art-pieces, the perfect wifi-connection, the sun beds from the garden...... :)
Without a doubt we recommend this house for your stay in LA!

An amazing experience!

What an amazing treat! This duplex is in the heart of west los angeles, central to everything, but you will never want to leave its perfect living room. It is beautiful in every sense: the building is gorgeous, the furnishings are elegant, the art collection fascinating; the backyard an oasis! We spent a wonderful month, enjoying every moment and were very sad to leave. The owner has renovated this 1930s building so that it functions perfectly without losing any sense of its history. The duplex is outfitted with everything that you could ever need, and the owner was so very helpful.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Tourists without a Car, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

Great location and it is same as the photos . Clean and well managed. The owner is very kind and helpful and he explained everything we need to know . All things are well prepared like clean big towels and toilet papers. The kitchen is a surprise with all supplies ready for us. Love the sitting room with lots of sunshine.
I will definitely recommend it to my friends and I am sure I will stay in this beautiful house again.

My family and I have used VRBO to rent properties on our multiple vacations over the past several years. We consistenly visit Los Angeles, because of our family and friends that live there. Of our multiple rentals that we've utilized this has undoubtedbly been our favorite. This home is incredibly comfortable, clean, well maintained and has an ideal location. Los Angeles, is a large spread out city. The location of this home truly allows for convenient access to many of the popular and desirable areas. Along with the convenience, the neighborhood is quiet and provides for ample parking. We are truly grateful that we had the opportunity to stay here and will certainly plan to do so again.
