Villa Artemis (completed 5/2008) is a stone built villa situated on a hill overlooking the traditional village of Gavalohori, 25km east of Chania Crete. Its unique architectural style is combined with modern facilities in order to provide an ideal environment for your comfort and relaxation. Villa Artemis is completely autonomous with 350 m2 of living space on a 1000 m2 plot of land. It offers complete privacy with its own parking space for two vehicles, private garden and two pools (one rectangular and one lap; pools are not overlooked). The villa can accommodate up to 9 persons. It is set among olive groves in the east side of Gavalohori 100 m from the village square where stores can be found. It offers a stunning view of the White Mountains. The villa is ideal for couples or families who wish to have luxurious accommodations within a quiet village setting with easy access to ocean (3km to Almirida, 10km to Georgoupolis) and very good night life (5km to Kalives and 30km to Chania).

Gavalohori is a traditional Cretan village situated in the Apokorona region about 3km inland from the coastal village of Almirida. Gavalohori is an old historical village with approximately 500 residents. It is a typical Cretan village with a small square where a coffee shop, a bakery, a mini mart, two tavernas and other convenient stores can be found. Several narrow streets branch off its centre and one could wander through several interesting sections of this officially protected village. Stone built houses with lovely backyards full of colourful flowers can be found. A lot of interesting buildings can be seen, such as the 18th century two-roomed, arched olive oil press, the temples of Panagia and Agios Sergios, the old school, and the historical folk art museum. Within a short distance (5km) from tranquil Gavalohori one can drive to Almirida, a picturesque coastal village. You may dine there in one of several seaside tavernas or relax sipping your drink by a bar during sunset.

Perfect luxury getaway with breathtaking views!

Hi, we stayed at villa Artemis in Setember 2009, it was fairly easy to find, location is perfect: views of the village below and mountains far ahead are simply breathtaking. Villa exceeded all our expectations, it has all modern cons listed in description, including satellite TV and PC with internet access. Pool area is nice and clean, plenty of towels were provided. Villa can be cleaned daily with the towel and sheet change, but we opted for a less frequent service. The nearby village shop has basic choice of food and toiletries, but we usually went to nearby Kalives (7 km) for our groceries, and to the butcher shop to get meat for our barbeques, which we had almost every day. Local taverna in Gavalochori serves very nice local food and has takeaway option(down the hill from the villa to the main square, take first left and 50 meters further on the right hand side) Nearest sandy beach is Almyrida (3 km), which is less than 10 minutes drive from the villa. So you definitely need a car to get around. Customer service from the owner and the lady who manages the villa is excellent. Special thanks from all of us to Christos and Froso, who made us feel very welcome throughout our stay and made this trip unforgettable. This villa is highly recommended by us:) We will definitely come back here again one day!

Villa Artemis was, without doubt, the most luxurious villa we have ever stayed in. The interior was well planned and very comfortable and spacious. Outside the two lovely pools had fantastic views of the village and mountains. The setting was perfect, quiet and rural but only a short walk to the village which had friendly tavernas and little shops. We were very sad to leave!!
