THE LOCATION: One of the most spectacular meetings of land and sea you will ever experience. Pelican Cove is on the Pacific Ocean’s edge, majestically perched for you to take advantage of the ever-changing weather and rich sea life. It is home to one of the most diverse marine ecosystems in the world, including 33 species of marine mammals, 94 species of seabirds and 345 species of fish. Crashing waves as high as 20 feet, traveling from Alaska and Hawaii, provide a daily command performance. Relax by the fireplace in the great room as you watch migrating gray, humpback and blue whales.

Walk down a few stone steps to your very own private rock beach and cove. Sea otters greet you, often with baby otters in tow. The cove is a sanctuary for underwater kelp forest providing habitat and food for hundreds of fish. Keep an eye on sea otters as they wrap themselves in kelp to stay anchored in and around the cove. Enjoy our airborne visitors and residents including seagulls, blue herons, egrets, cormorants, albatross and, of course, pelicans. Feedings times are everyday, all day.

You will never tire of the non-stop action: the tide changes, blowhole blasts from pods of migrating whales, crashing waves, and much more. The rich life of Pelican Cove and the breathtaking sunsets will create memories for a lifetime.

Perfect Ocean Retreat

We spent a spectacular long weekend here with our 6 year olds, and my high school graduate godson and his family. We also hosted a dinner for 15 people one night of our stay, and what a perfect venue for a beautiful, easy barbecue gathering -- so impressive with the most direct view of the ocean possible from every room and all outdoor locations! The outdoor firepit is ideal for hanging about with friends and wine, and for making the inevitably popular 'smores. The house is large and elegant while being very comfortable and livable, and it works well for multiple families. The kitchen was stocked with all we might need, and we loved the huge (but normally hidden) TV. The patio and abundant chairs and tables provide a wonderful venue for either socializing above the waves or sitting alone to read or contemplate the finer points of life. It was great to have the stone steps right behind the house to wander down to the rocks and tidepools. The wine provided to accompany that first glorious sunset was a nice touch. We would definitely stay here again!

The only couple problems I had with the house was the bedroom next to the Master bedroom the bedding was full of white dog hair and there were no curtains in 2 bedrooms (so you were awaken at the crack of dawn) .... other than that we enjoyed our stay. Lou was prompt and did a good job of welcoming us to the property.

California Dreaming

My husband and I differ on what type of vacation to have. I like to be surrounded by nature but he prefers amenities and good food. This house was the perfect combination of our separate goals.
It is built above a very wild section of Carmel ocean. You fall asleep to the sound of crashing waves and wake to the smell of sea spray. It is close to an amazing hiking location Sobrantes and the gorgeous Carmel River Beach. A ten minute drive away and you can dine in Carmel at delicious spots like Mundaka and Dametra Cafe.
Every bedroom of the house has an ocean view and comfortable bed. The living room is well decorated and the couch comfortable. The only downside was leaving.

Wow, what an amazing weekend at an amazing house. The first view as you open the front door is an expanse of breathtaking beauty. The ocean waves crashing on rocks framed by iconicly gnarled california cypress trees. Seagulls and Pelicans greet you as you put your stuff down. The house has great separation of space between the living areas yet maintaining the nice group energy in the center of the house. The design of the house perfectly takes advantage of it's impeccable placement over the water. Every room had a stunning view.

The best part was the late night hot tub dip, lit by the moon, the white water from the crashing waves glow as they provide a mesmerizing visual as well as a soul comforting undulating hum. Great conversations, great company, great friends, great views, what could be better.

If you plan to stay here, be sure to bring high powered binoculars, because dolphins and sea otters are a common sight. We saw both during our 2 day stay.
