All the roads in the neighborhood dead end at trail heads. North National Park is walking distance to the house and offers Frisbee golf, ball fields, snowmobile rentals and much more. The Lake at Kings Beach is 2.5 miles away and has boat and kayak rentals. White, sandy beaches will remind you of being in Hawaii. You are 4 miles to the entrance of Northstar which offers a great all-around skiing mountain, along with a new village with ice skating rink, shops and restaurants. Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley are minutes away and there is a short cut which eliminates dealing with traffic in Tahoe City. Diamond Peak and Mt Rose are 20 min away and offers less expensive skiing with specials and family pricing. Cross country skiing and snow shoeing are literally out the back door…and for those adventure enthusiasts, there is a multitude of snowmobiling rentals as close at 2 miles from the house.

This chalet style home with loft is great for large families or groups of friends. It has an open floor plan with 22ft ceilings with large windows looking out to the forest. Located in a quiet pocket of homes surrounded by forest land, you'll see more people out walking than cars driving by. All the roads dead end at trail heads that the forestry service maintains which allows unlimited hiking and biking in the summertime. In the wintertime, the front yard becomes a nice sledding hill for the kids. In the summertime, the kids will love playing in the meadow, and the hiking the trails

As you walk in front door, you are greeted by a large open living area called the 'Great Room'. In Tahoe we think cooking is a main hobby, so houses are built with open areas that comprise of the living, kitchen and dining room. You can cook and socialize at the same time.Your family or group will enjoy the spacious living area with sectional, scattered ottomans, and a wood burning stove with brick hearth. This faces a large TV with satellite reception that allows access to all the premium TV channels and 30 stations of continuous music. The dining area has a 12 top timber trestle table with benches and is perfect for entertaining at. The kitchen, surrounded by countertops, and barstools, overlooks the dining and living area, with lots of counter space and large enough to accommodate a number of chefs. The kitchen has another table in it with barstools, and ample cupboard space with all the amenities you may want or need during your stay. Off the dining area is a sliding glass door that exits out to a sunny wrap-around deck. The deck has just been remodeled with expansions and wrap around seating. Its great in both winter and summer. The deck and house sits low off the street, so you have privacy with a nice yard, and a meadow behind the house. Patio furniture and barbecues make the summertime outdoor activities worth looking forward to. Off the side yard is deck with forest views and separate deck with Hot Tub. You can soak in the tub for hours, enjoying the meadow views.

Down the hall from the living area, is a full bathroom, laundry room and two bedrooms. One room has a queen bed and has a sliding glass door that exits out to a private deck with a view that looks out to a the meadow the house sits on. The other bedroom, has a pillow top King size poster bed, and meadow views.

Up the stairs are two more enclosed bedrooms, and a loft. The Master bedroom is large and has a King bed, and twin bed, TV/DVD and bathroom. The high A framed beam ceilings, and the triangle windows above the bed really makes this room special. At night you can see stars, and in the morning you can see the colors of the sky's sunrise. Off the Master is a alcove with twin bed,and another full bathroom with skylights. The loft is adjacent to this with 2 twin beds, and doubles as a game room. There is a full size foosballs table that is a hit for children, and extra room to play cards etc. There is also a private 4th bedroom here with a queen bed which shares the high beam ceilings, and towering windows.

Each room is unique with European style bedding with 300 count sheets, extra pillows, plisse, bed throw, and window coverings to give you the charm and comfort you'd expect from a mountain home. The furnishings compliment the 'Pine Lodge' decor. The open areas and high ceiling ,allow you to socialize with family or friends, without feeling closed in.

The house has all the amenities of home and more. Coffee service is provided for your first morning here, and bathrobes are in most bedrooms for your use. The furnishings are user friendly with plenty of seating for your family and friends. High ceilings with large wooden beams, triangle shaped windows, and mountain decor compliment the 'Tahoe' feeling. The location and amenities of this home makes this a great vacation home year-round.

About Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe is a magical place to be both summer and winter. Please feel free to call me with any questions.

Lake Tahoe purchased this house in 1998

What makes this house unique

Love the location and all the hiking around the house. You can wake up, get a cup of coffee and walk right from the house to one of the many trials with lake views. A total Tahoe experience.

The neighborhood is surrounded by tall pines and unlimited hiking trails, yet Kings Beach with restaurants and shopping is right down the street. Great Lake front restaurants and always something to do. The casinos are 3 miles away with gambling, music and spa services.

Guestbook comments from the owner

My family wanted a nice home in a great quiet neighborhood that was close to the Lake, restaurants, and centrally located to many activities. We picked the perfect place. The house was set up to accommodate 3 families well, the kids had lots of areas around the house to play without needing adult supervision, the adults really enjoyed the late nightcaps on the large deck under the stars, and we all enjoyed the hot tub and incredible smells of the forest surrounding us. Days were spent at the beach's close to the house, and everything we talked about doing, we did and it was easy to get there. Every a super grocery store for all the items we forgot was close enough to buzz down to. The beds were comfortable, and the decor and amenities added to our enjoyment. Little touches here and there were welcomed, and we made new friends with the neighbors next door. Finally..we found our vacation home in Lake Tahoe and look forward to next year's stay.

If you are looking for a comfortable cabin with all amenities; in a very quiet location (not isolated though) and with loads of activities for the more adventurous; then you couldn't do any better than the Morganhaus. The road directions were perfect and we found the cabin very easily. The first sighting of the Cabin lived up to all anticipated expectations; lights on and welcoming; very warm and cozy when we got in. Wifi was good; mobile phone connection good enough! The kitchen was very well equipped with everything most people on vacation would need. Always loads of hot water for showers. Plenty of towels for guests to use. However, maybe a couple more robes would be useful. The laundry room with the washing machine and tumble dryer was always warm for drying and keeping ski boots warm. The first morning we woke up to a huge dump of snow overnight and we were very impressed with the contractor arriving to clear the snow off the drive :-) So no worries about being snowbound if you stay here. Kings Beach is a wonderful village with some good stores to explore. Plenty of excellent restaurants to choose from e.g. Jason's. Skiing at Mt Rose; Snowmobile with Umiak. We would definitely visit again and also at a time of year when there is no snow and experience the wonderful countryside hiking or doing water activities. Thank you Sandy for allowing us to make use of your wonderful cabin.

The chalet is wonderful place to escape to, We were fortunate enough to rent this during the summer months with 3 other couples. There was so much to see and do that 10 days wasn't enough. The chalet offers a warm family feel, but also a perfect place to getaway. We enjoyed the open-kitchen which was great for entertaining, while the outdoor deck serves as a quiet escape with the sounds of nature all around. The hot tub was very relaxing after biking the paved bike path in Tahoe City ...a trip I'd highly recommend! Whether it was hiking the Tahoe Rim trail, cocktails at Jasons, or shopping in downtown King Beach, we were never without something to do. Another highlight of our vacation was renting a boat and stopping for lunch at Sunnyside Resort .Riding the ski lift at Squaw Valley and seeing the magnificent views were breath taking. Then it was back to the chalet to take in the solitude of our own backyard. Close enough to activities around the lake, yet secluded for a weekend of privacy. A perfect getaway location for a week filled with hiking, biking and just relaxing in the summer. This was a fabulous vacation and we plan on returning next summer.

Summer Rejuvenation

Thank you for letting us stay at The "Morganhaus". What a wonderful experience! We had a lot of fun on the North Shore. This was perfectly located for our family to visit the various area's on the lake. We spent time in Tahoe City, the west shore, Loved Incline Village, and had many picnics in the State Park. Each was within 20 min to the house. Our family also hiked a lot on the local trails, went fishing, and did plenty of shopping at the local stores. After our full days we enjoyed relaxing evenings on the deck. So nice to come home to a clean place with hot tub! A couple nights we grilled out, had s'mores, and enjoyed the TV room and foosball table. The kids enjoyed the playing in the meadow behind the house. Deadlines and pressure of the "real world" went away for the week. Our kids especially enjoyed the serenity that comes from the pace of life in Lake Tahoe. We had time to walk, talk, play cards, play games, read and get in that elusive afternoon nap now and again. We felt we had a unique opportunity to spend time as a family without outside interferences. Everything else could wait as we finished the lego creation. We enjoyed watching the moon glimmer off Lake Tahoe from across the street. We could see stars - far more than we can see from home. Even caught a sunrise! We recommend bringing a good book for each family member and a favorite board game. Our son likes to being a small box of legos and couple matchbox cars. Some suggestions - the Safeway if BIG and has plenty of food supplies if needed. Also, we had great beach days at Secline which is behind Gas Station, as well as meals at Jasons on the Lake. This is a great place for a family to take a vacation. Thank you.

5 star place for a 3 star price- and save big on meals!

Our 2nd time at this lovely home. VERY easy and quick to get to from Kings Beach. Just as close time-wise as great sandy beach's. 3 minutes from a huge golfing, boat rentals, and other offerings by the lake. 10 minutes from Northstar on a nice state road. (Don't miss the skating rink in the middle of the village at Northstar - one of the funnest days with my kids.) The hot tub is impeccably maintained. The master bedroom is huge and the sheets and covers and lighting make it an incredibly cozy nest. The 'extras' really make this place: tons of helpful brochures, magazines, DVDs, board games. kitchen equipment of all sorts, even spices and basics like canola oil, sugar, coffee - so your first morning you can fuel up! The decor in this house are very memorable and really add to the ski chalet atmosphere. The bedrooms downstairs are beautifully appointed - and the downstairs living area was super comfortable. We've stayed here with another family and had a wonderful time. I'd love to stay here in the spring or fall, too - it would be SO quiet and lovely with the large deck!

We Love Lake Tahoe!

  • 5 of 5

This was our fourth time to stay at the Morganhaus! We travel to Lake Tahoe about once a year and we don't even look for another housing option because the this home provides everything we desire and more. We love the layout with open floor plan and privacy. This is an ideal situation for a family with several children or families/friends sharing the home. The decor is nice and the kitchen is more well-stocked than most kitchens let alone a vacation kitchen! The kids love the hot tub on the deck and the location is fantastic for all activities no matter the season of the year!

This house is in the middle of the Northshore and has easy access to all Lake Tahoe has to offer. 1.5 miles from the highway, getting around the Tahoe Basin is effortless. The drive around the Lake is breathtaking and you'll enjoy the different little towns that surround the Lake. . The house is in a quiet pocket of homes just up from the Lake at Kings Beach .All the homes here sit on a meadow with tall pine trees, and roads dead end at the hiking trails. Winter and summer they are used and maintained by the forest service. It borders the Tahoe Rim trail which is a destination for some with endless hiking trails you can access from the house. Brockway Summit is well know for its path to Tahoe City, and Watson Lake is worth hiking too. You can walk in the summertime to our neighborhood park, North National Park. The park encompasses approximately 124 acres of predominantly active recreational activities. An 18 par fitness course, ball fields, Frisbee Golf, playground are just a few options. In the wintertime they offer a nice sledding hill for tubing and snow fun. Within 20 min to all the ski resorts on the North Shore, Northstar in the closest and newest village. The village was modeled after Beaver Creek Colorado...cobblestone sidewalks, copper roofs and a multitude of restaurants and shops that line the 'square'. The square is an ice skating rink in the wintertime and roller skating in summer. The bon fire pits and outdoor bars are always there. Its a wonderful setting to hang out at especially at night. Skiing here is family orientated with lots of ski programs for all ages, and a pristine mountain that keeps a good grasp on good snow conditions. If your staying a week, I highly recommend taking advantage of the other resorts also. A bonus is from the house you can drive the back way to Alpine and Squaw Valley which will eliminate the morning traffic through Tahoe City. Both mountains have tons of excellent skiing, and mountain biking in the summertime. MT Rose is where to go for open terrain, Diamond Peak for kids and an easy day skiing. Both are 15 min to the house. In the summertime, Kings Beach just down the street is a State Park with lifeguard and lake toys to rent. The beach is the highlight with wide sandy beaches, and views you have to experience to appreciate. There are also smaller beaches up and down the strip for reading a book, and dog beaches for your loved ones. Brockway golf course in Kings Beach is a must for those that just want a good time. One of the top 9 hole courses in California, its known for its yardage and views. In the wintertime the course becomes a snowmobiling park. Tahoe City is 12 miles away and offers another nice city with shops, restaurants and outdoor venues. The Truckee River is our playground for fishing, river rafting, and bike baths to view all. A nice day is renting your bike in Tahoe City and riding to River Ranch. This is a river front restaurant with large outdoor patio at the entrance to Alpine Meadows. Here is where the river tours end and usually where the rafts have issues. You can spend the day here watching the rafters and enjoying their menu and drink. Between the location , amenities of the house, and your favorite family or friends, you'll have a great home to stay at while getting a true Lake Tahoe experience.

I offer 5 homes in this neighborhood that are great vacation rentals. '' All the homes sit on a meadow and the roads dead end at trail heads. Tall pine trees with sights and smells surround the houses and the quiet sound of birds and the wind blowing through the trees is intoxicating. Located in the middle of the North Shore, there is easy access to any event or place you want to drive to in the Tahoe basin. The beach's down the street are like being in an Hawaiian cove. Shallow water is safe for children and lifeguards line the beach. The State Park at Kings Beach has BBQ grills and picnic tables on the shoreline with lots of parking. In the wintertime, Alpine Meadows, Squaw Valley, Northstar, Diamond Peak, Mt Rose are all within 20 min to the house. Super easy access to all, with short cuts eliminating traffic to most. Enjoy skiing at a different resort everyday. The house is clean and well maintained. Many guests come back yearly and refer others to my homes.
