This Slaughter Beach Cozy Cottage is looking forward to sharing the beautiful beach with new visitors. The property is directly across from public beach access so your feet will never get tired of walking to the beach. However, lounging in the cottage or reading a book on the screened in patio is sometimes just as relaxing. The cottage is located on two lots so you will have plenty of space for outdoor fun in addition to your own privacy. There is a spacious outdoor patio area for sunset dinners. Recent renovations include all new floors and ceiling fans in addition to a tankless hot water heater, air conditioning, and brand new washer and dryer. The tankless hot water system allows for endless amounts of hot water for all of the guests!
The cottage is fully furnished and recently renovated. You will find everything you need if you plan on cooking during your stay. There is a gas stove and oven, dishwasher and coffee maker. There is even a grill outside for your convenience. We also keep a cooler available so you can keep your food/beverages cold while you relax on the beach.
We offer guests the option to use our linens at no additional fee however outdoor beach towels and beach chairs will need to be supplied by the guests.
During your stay you should expect to see horseshoe crabs, numerous birds and wildlife. The bay at Slaughter Beach offers guests a more relaxing time playing in the water. The waves are small and the tide is remarkable. You will find when the tide is high you can sail boats, swim laps, fish right from the beach and kayak for hours. However when the tide is low you will find an open ocean bottom waiting to be discovered. Take a walk in the bay and discover what lies beneath.
Slaughter Beach is located North of Rehobeth Beach and Lewes, Delaware. The Tanger Outlets are close by and offer approx. 130 brand name outlets along the 3 mile stretch of Route 1. Near the Tanger Outlets you will find Midway Speedway Park, an exciting family attraction. It has 5 go-kart tracks for all skill levels in addition to 18 holes of miniature golf.
This home was purchased to bring our family together. We use the home for holidays to make sure everyone can stay close. The rest of the year we hope to share beautiful Slaughter Beach to vacation goers.
Sarah Kniep purchased this cottage in 2010
My family of four stayed for a week in August, and while overall we had a nice time at this cottage and felt it was accurately represented on this website, there were a few issues we think other guests should be aware of. The house backs up to a protected marsh, resulting in a lot of bugs - not just mosquitoes, but biting, stinging flies. There is a nice screened-in porch, where this is not a problem, but we didn't use the large backyard much at all, due to bugs. Secondly, the beach itself is covered mostly in pebbles rather than sand - it was uncomfortable to walk barefoot - and there are also a lot of dead horseshoe crabs, which sometimes smell unpleasant. On the plus side, the beach was pretty deserted and no one minded our dog being there with us. Lastly, after we left there was an unexpected problem with getting our entire security deposit back - the owner claimed we had damaged something which we are sure we did not. While we enjoyed our vacation, we would not return to this property.
The cottage was perfectly described. It felt like a real home away from home. The only thing missing in the description was the record player. Which we had such fun with. I called my sister in PA and asked her to bring some of my old Elvis LP's to the cottage.
The property being exactly what we expected made for an extreemly relaxing stay. Being able to include our dogs made it complete.
My friends and I had a wonderful experience at the cottage. The house was large enough to accommodate the 7 of us. We really needed a break from the city and found the location very peaceful! In the morning we would have long walk on the beach which is a very short walk from the cottage and the drive to Dewey or Rehoboth beach was easier than we thought. We will be back!
The house was great at first I was worried about not having ac but the open lay out and ceiling fans realy kept the place cool, the beach was only seconds away and it was so nice being able to play fetch with our two dogs on the wide open private beach. During high tide I swam with my 2 year old son and the waves where just right for him to play in the water and during low tide the beach was a great place to explore for shells and other under water treasures needles to say my son loved it. The back yard had an amazing view of the wild life preserve and made a great back drop to cook outs in the evening and with rehoboth and Lewis only a short drive away it made for a wonderful vacation with lots to do it was tranquil and relaxing. Just what we all needed would love to visit again
This was perfect for a weekend away. There were 6 of us and the cottage provided plenty of room for us. Everything was clean and well maintained. The backyard is large and perfect for lounging if you don't want to go to the beach. The beach is a 2 minute walk away and is quiet and clean. The owners were great and very helpful. Everything about this trip was relaxing and we can't wait to go back. My only problem with the trip was that it was not long enough!
What a great place for our extended family to spend a few days! The house is immaculately clean and has everything you could possibly need to make your stay enjoyable. The layout was great for our large group to spend time together in the multiple gathering areas in the home. The cute beach decor adds to the experience. It's clear that the owners take pride in providing a comfortable place for their guests to enjoy their vacation. The area is quiet, laid back and relaxing, and the water is just a very short walk across the street. We'll come back for sure and next time we'll bring the dog!
