You'll never have to worry about the heat at this cabin because of the awesome air conditioning through out the home.
In the winter Banner Elk is where people come to choose and cut their own Christmas tree and ski, and in the summer it is a perfect place for a family getaway which can be quiet, peaceful, and relaxing or full of activity, fun, and adventure. Blue Ridge Parkway, Grandfather Mountain, Linville Falls and Linville Gorge are just a few of the scenic landmarks in the area. The attractions are worth visiting such as the Woolly Worm Festival that takes place in Banner Elk in October, and the summer theater, by the Lees-McRae College Performing Arts department.
The main level offers great room with a cozy wood burning fireplace, 42' flat screen TV with a home theater surround sound system with Blu-Ray DVD player. The step-saver modern kitchen is equipt with a trash compactor, stainless steel appliances, and a dining table for 7. There are 2 stools at the bar for additional dining. There is a king hand crafted bed with cable TV and an antique queen size bedroom on the main level.
The outdoor living space is sublime, providing Adirondack chairs, a dining table and rockers. The entire family can relax together while enjoying the spectacular Blue Ridge Mountain views. After a long hard day of skiing, hiking, or shopping, slip into the therapeutic large 5-6 person hot tub. Life doesn't get any better than this!!!
The upstairs boasts the 3rd amazingly comfortable queen size suite and a full bathroom. There is also a reading area in the loft with 2 chairs and a variety of books for your enjoyment.
The basement is where the kids can hunker down in the 4th private queen size suite, full bathroom, and a room with 2 bunk beds, a toddler bed, and a couch along with cable TV. The downstairs area is spacious enough for the kids to bring their own board games to play or enjoy hours of family fun with the games we have provided.
The eclectic town of Banner Elk also boasts a beach--on the 13 acre Wildcat Lake. Located up Hickory Nut Gap Road, you will drive by this incredible lake on your way to Rustic Mountain. Wildcat Lake has a new dam, new pier, new sand and new fish. Upgraded picnic facilities, including two shelters, play areas and a bath house all are available. There is no charge to use any of the facilities, although state fishing licenses are required, and reservations for use of the picnic shelters are necessary. Lifeguards are on duty during summer hours. Wildcat lake is less than 2 miles from the front door of Rustic Mountain !!
At Rustic Mountain, we believe that nobody should be left behind. We will allow you to bring your well behaved four-legged family member with you for a one time nonrefundable pet fee. Isn't it wonderful that for once you won't have to wonder how your best friend is doing in the kennel 'back home?' The yard is fenced in for your pet's safety and peace of mind. IF you do bring your pet, you are responsible for cleaning up after them. Doggie bags may be available at the cabin but if there isn't any, you are still responsible for picking up after your pet.
There is a 2 night minimum for off peak seasons and a 3-4 night minimum for holidays and the entire month of October.
No smoking is allowed inside of our cabin!
As you plan your trip to the mountains, please remember we do get rain, snow and some foggy days and occasional inconveniences which are out of our control. Winter weather in the Blue Ridge Mountains can occur from November through April. The majority of our homes are accessed by mountain roads, which will be icy in winter weather. For the safety of you and your party, please be prepared to drive in snow and ice. This means 4-wheel drive, good tires, and chains. It is your responsibility to be prepared for hazardous road conditions. There will be NO refunds, allowances, or date changes resulting from your negligence in this matter.
We do not provide firewood for this rental. However, we do offer firewood for sale. A bundle of wood (approx. 15 pieces). Please give at least a 48 hour notice. You are welcome to order as many bundles as you want. We will have it delivered, stacked, and ready for use. Please be sure to mention this while making your reservation.
