This is a spacious, fantastic property perfect for larger families or groups of friends seeking their own private holiday resort. There is so much on offer: close to the beach, private tropical gardens and lawn, private pool, an abundance of separate living areas and sleeping up to 8 guests.
Coral Drive Retreat enjoys a great location on a quiet street just a few minutes stroll from beautiful Four Mile Beach. Port Douglas village centre is only four minutes drive away or enjoy a cruisy bicycle ride straight along the beach to the shops, restaurants and marina.
The well appointed kitchen adjoins the dining room and large open-plan living / entertainment room. A second living room opens out to an outdoor dining area overlooking the pool and gardens. Another separate, covered dining area offers the chance to enjoy that newspaper and coffee in peace.
Enjoy Coral Drive Retreat as your own resort with its abundance of quality facilities within easy reach of the best of Port Douglas.
Overall the place is like your little piece of paradise with my family having a wonderful time. The accommodation lives up to what it says and delivers what it promises.
The location is perfect, just close enough to town which is in easy reach but just far enough out of town. The beach is within strolling distance and you are away from the noisy nightlife of town. You can sit back and relax and hear the birds and wind rustling through the lush tropical gardens.
We previously has stayed closer to town but the noise of the hotel, sharing the pool with others and the tiny rooms offered by the so called fancy hotels didn't live up to what we expected.
This accommodation has it all. A beautiful tranquil pool, outdoor entertaining, separate living zones for the adults and the kids and everything you need for a relaxing holiday. Would I stay here again? The answer is yes I certainly would. Especially for the price of what is being offered in the heart of town.
What a spectacular location! This home is exactly as described online.
From the moment I entered the home I was struck by the magnificent pool, surrounded by lush palms that provide excellent shelter from the sun, and made me feel as though I was taking a dip in a lagoon on a tropical island!
The spacious living area opens into the massive Alfresco area by way of gigantic bi-fold doors, which create a wonderful area in which to entertain both indoors and out. Plenty of new outdoor furniture, and immaculately maintained gardens; what a treat to be able to enjoy a morning cuppa, (or evening glass of wine,) in such a relaxing setting.
The Kitchen is gigantic, suitable for a large family, and is the hub to a huge dining and second living area. Just when you think there couldn't possibly be any more, there is a second Alfresco providing a little privacy for adults, another family, or even just an alternative place to enjoy the climate.
All the bedrooms are large, with handy bedside tables and lighting, and air conditioning throughout. I'm a constant user of air con, (I don't handle the heat well,) but this home has clearly been designed with solar passive principles in mind, and stays cool of its own accord. Quite remarkable really; I come from a design & construction background, and I cannot fault the layout of this home.
There's also a huge selection of crockery/cutlery, and all modern appliances you would expect.
Each living area has a large TV and stereo, and cable TV connection for the days you just feel like doing nothing, but I found myself reading by the pool, with the stereo in the background more often than not!
Easy access to/from town via a shuttle stop less than 2min walk from the house, and a short walk to the beach and nearby restaurants & shops.
Wouldn't have known the neighbours existed, or the outside world for that matter; I felt as though I was on my own private island!
The home was beyond immaculate, and friendly management staff were available to answer my questions.
The mark of a good holiday home is whether you would recommend a close friend or family to stay there, and I would have no hesitation in doing so. I will most certainly stay at Coral Drive Retreat again and again, whenever I'm in Port Douglas, and I highly recommend you do, too.
All I can say is I am very impressed with this beautiful home! The pool was great, it actually looked and felt like we were at a tropical beach from all of the stone features. The inside of the house was chilled to my liking which was good relief after being in the hot humid temperature. The property came with 2 large spacious tv rooms, one great for the young ones and the other perfect for the adults for entertainment as it is facing the alfresco. The alfresco also has an outdoor fan which was great help for us while sitting outside. Both of the TV rooms actually have Austar tv so i have no idea what the comment is talking about (probably didnt know how to work it?) . The yard was large so it was a great space for the kids to play.
All i can really say is that i will defiantly be back again!
We were very disappointed by this villa.
The Garden and “pool” side is shrouded by trees, so we had no sun at all.
Only 2 sun loungers were provided for 8 guests….when we asked for more, we were told there was no room to place them…we agree that only 2 more would fit at poolside…it is that small.
The Swimming Pool, (and it is more like an ornamental pond) was very cold (no sun on it) …so, like us you will not want to use it.
The advertised waterfall has been permanently cut off “due to mishandling of the controls” by guests.
In fact, we had to pay to enter the Sheraton Mirage Pool Area to get some sun time.
HomeAway.com / HomeAway.co.uk / amazingaccom.com have the whole villa air conditioned, which was our understanding prior to booking.
However, we now see that Ulysses Gataways have only bedroom aircon on their website.
The temperature in the main living area was too hot and needs aircon. The fans were not satisfactory and this was with an outside temperature of only 23 degrees. For the price being charged the villa should provide aircon throughout.
The 2 x Singles bedroom is unusable unless you are happy with massive noise from the aircon which seriously needs new bearings
amazingaccom.com show that a Welcome Hamper will be available; it wasn’t. There wasn’t even a bottle of milk for our arrival at 10.00pm. The free bottle of sweet white wine was not what we wanted either.
We also had to complain about no Austar TV, a shortage of bedside lighting and far too few ordinary glasses, although there were 28 wine glasses. These three things were sorted within 72 hours.
This is not a “fantastic” property and is very far from “perfect.”
We were looking forward to excellent accommodation, just as the websites are selling it but there were too many disappointments. If the agents are happy to over-promise like this, they are not worth dealing with.
We would strongly advise that this property is not rented.
