Balmain is a charming 'inner west' suburb of Sydney surrounded by water. It is popular for its shops, cafes and restaurants along the main street (Darling St) and its village feel. There are numerous beautiful parks with playgrounds and jogging pathways along the water. Many young families choose to live in Balmain because it is safe, quiet, yet close to the city (3kms).
Balmain has direct access to the city by ferry or over the Glebe Island bridge (5 mins by car or bus, and 35 mins walking/cycling); great access to the lower north shore suburbs and beaches (such as Mosman and Balmoral beach); and to the Eastern suburbs (such as Bondi) via the Cross City tunnel (5 mins to Paddington and Darlinghurst).
There is a public swimming pool close by (Dawn Fraser pool), some good yoga studios (MindBodyLife), fitness centres (Evolution) and beauty/massage centres (Natures Energy).
