•Rock Stull Natural Preserve: This is one of the Hocking Hills best kept secret and best places to visit. It has beautiful waterfalls and stunning scenery including ravines! Less than five minutes from the cabin.
•Old Man's Cave: Featuring waterfalls, the Upper Falls, and the Lower Falls, whirlpools, gorges& ravines and massive rock formations. Approximately 25 min. from the cabin.
• Cedar Falls: One of the most popular waterfalls - a 50 foot waterfall fall over the cliff face. A nice picnic area and latrines are located within a short walk. Approximately 25 min. from the cabin.
From the time we walked into this cabin, I knew my selection of where to stay in Hocking Hills was the right one. The cabin was awesomely clean, very well decorated, and smelled wonderful. The view out the sliding glass doors on the first floor was absolutely stunning. We were just as impressed when we went downstairs to check out the lower level. It was just as beautiful as the first floor. The weather was such that I was able to sit out on the patio and read a book. One thing that really impressed me was the number of Bible based books on the book cases in the lower level. I even read one called "God's Story, Your Story: When His Becomes Yours" by Max Lucado. This was an awesome read. We also made use of the hot tub on the lower level patio one evening. One place we visited was the strip mall of antique shops. Once again the weather was beautiful, and we were able to enjoy a leisurely stroll from shop to shop. We have visited Hocking Hills a number of times, and I can say Matt's place is my absolute favorite. Matt was great to work with and responded to our questions and inquiries in a timely manner. He even went above and beyond and emailed me the paint colors used in his cabin when I asked if he'd mind getting them for me after we'd gone home. He is absolutely wonderful to work with, and I look forward to another stay when I am ready for some R&R, peace and tranquility from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Thanks Matt for sharing your beautiful property with us.
We were very impressed on how clean and updated the cabin was. We went with another couple and there was plenty of room. Especially loved that it had two living rooms! The kithen was stocked with everything you could think of. I can't think of one thing negative, this place is beautiful, clean, and roomy. We spent most of our time enjoying the sun on both decks and at night in the large hot tub watching the deer across the pond. If you ask me, can't get much better than that! If I was to make any suggestion it would be to put the the other queen bed downstairs to make two adult living areas. We will defianlty be returning!!
Very wonderful owners! Loved this cabin, very clean and lovely location. We saw a bobcat, deer, muskrats and a beaver just at the property alone! The teenage boys we had along loved fishing in the pond. Can't wait to go back again! Highly recommend.
This cabin is truly as beautiful as the pictures show and just as clean. A few things to know though: 1. The cabin is right next to another cabin separated by just a few trees. 2. Old Man's Cave etc is 45 min away. 3. The river is not accessible d/t plant overgrowth. Other than those 3 things not clearly explained in the ad, it's a great place to stay. The kids loved fishing in the pond and there was plenty of room for our large family. We had one minor problem and the owner corrected it right away and was very friendly. There are lots of utensils in the kitchen but no roasting skewers for marshmallows so bring some along. There is a variety of DVD's in case it rains. The two covered porches are wonderful. We ate outside while there was a light sprinkle and saw a mother deer with twins! Great memories.
The pictures on this site don't do it justice. It is a great house located so close to nature! The pond attracts some cool birds, deer, and other wildlife that you can just watch all day long! We have family that lives in Lancaster and it is only a 15-20 minute drive. So you are close enough to a town that you can get all your grocery and other needs. The owner is easy to get a hold of for any issues. The one thing we would have liked to have had, staying for a week, is onsite laundry. But it didn't ruin our stay in the area one bit. This was much better than staying in a hotel for week!
This was the perfect place to stay to explore Hocking Hills! Matt was great to communicate with regarding our stay. The house was very clean and just as it appears in the pictures. We enjoyed the hot tub and the area immensely! The boys also loved exploring around the pond and building a fire in the firepit outside. We would stay there again next time! Thanks for a great experience! Jodi
