Guestbook comments from the owner

Upon entering this rental it became obvious that the owners had

comfort and convenience in mind when doing the renovations. It was

also obvious that they genuinely cared about making their property

feel like a home away from home. This show of respect towards

prospective tenants was matched by the personal service that we

received. Our dealings with Nate were nothing short of excellent. He

was always very helpful, and went out of his way to make sure we had a

pleasant stay. All of their efforts were well appreciated by our

family.

We loved the open floor plan, and there was plenty of nice furniture

for all to be comfy. We had up to nine people in our party, and we had

plenty of room. The master bedroom was big enough for our son's family

to camp out in - and they still had room to move around! We also had

plenty of closet/storage space. Having two television areas was nice,

and both had a lot of channels to choose from - to include free

movies.

The outside offered a lot of space as well - decks front and back with

ample seating, and a good sized yard. I liked the fact that the grill

was set up on its own side deck. The home has woods on one side, and a

few trees forming a barrier on the other. Privacy was never an issue.

A great place to kick back with family and/or friends.

The location was not as remote as we first thought. The drive through

the islands did not seem to take long, so our excursion to Burlington

proved to be a nice outing. The drives to NY to buy groceries were a

great way to explore the area, and did not feel inconvenient. The Isle

of LaMotte is right across the bridge that is in the picture of the

lake. Across the bridge in the other direction (North Hero) is a food

vendor who has good food at reasonable prices. FYI: next to this

concession is a convenience store where you can purchase fishing

licenses on the spot. You can opt to buy a 1, 3, or 7 day license.

AND, if you plan on having a private charter for a day of fishing, be

sure to tell the Captain your location - I was able to have our group

picked up at our dock!

Although we weren't directly on the water, we left with only two

regrets: We only booked for one week - not two; and we didn't have our

passports.

We would stay here again and hope to return one day!

Wonderful stay

  • 4 of 5
Our family from 5 different towns had a wonderful stay at this cozy yet roomy lakeside house. The owners were very nice, meeting us the first day and showing all aspects of the property. The week of weather we had was one of the best weeks all summer. The house had all the benefits of home, from dishes and spices to towels, cable and wifi. The state park 2 miles down the road was also a wonderful adventure for the whole family. 4 Bedrooms and 2 separate living areas was nice when relaxing. Plenty of room outside for unwinding and playing around with the kids. We would recommend this property to anyone looking for a true Vermont and Lake Champlain experience.

An oasis on the lake

The property is well located, with a view of the lake. It is spacious and very well equipped. Having two kayaks and one canoe available was very nice. An ideal place for a quiet holiday.

Great Vacation Home, Comfortable!

  • 5 of 5
The place is very comfortable, made for a great vacation! Beds were great, living area was neat and well-decorated and maintained. The screened-in-back porch area was wonderful for having meals. We enjoyed taking the canoe and kayaks out on the lake.

We took a jaunt to the Ben & Jerry's factory and Echo Aquarium in VT one day, and visited the Ausable Chasm another. But most of the week spent on activities at or around the home -- it's that kind of place where you can simply hang around the house but still get out and do something -- biking, boating, fishing, swimming. There is a park with a beach about 5 minutes down the road also.

Nate, the owner, met us there when we arrived and showed us around -- it was nice to know we could get in touch with the owner if anything went wrong, although we didn't need to.

Definitely would stay again next time we go to that part of the country. We've stayed in Vacation houses in several states along the east coast, and this was definitely the most comfortable house we've stayed in of all!

Thanks!

Wedding Vacation

  • 4 of 5
Overall the property is wonderful and the area of Lake Champlain is beautiful! An hour away from Burlington, the proprty rests hilariously close to the Canadian and New York borders. We love Vermont and were able to access all the areas on our agenda with ease. We truly enjoyed staying in the area and are considering an annual return.

The house is clean, open and inviting with nice touches throughout. The kitchen has everything we needed to cook while statying. Our thanks for the stocked laundry room! As other have mentioned, the lake access is down a somewhat steep back yard area and across the street but well within what we considered to be normal distance. I had the unfortunate luck to fracture my ankle the week prior to vacation so we chose to drive around to the dock and park in the back yard in the small area provided - I simply could not venture safely otherwise. Several kayaks and a canoe were available for use. As this was also our wedding destination, it was handy to have the master bedroom on the opposite side of the home. Large with its own access to one several decks, we found the space relaxing.

The front porch was perfect for the small wedding. Due to the heat, we chose the porch off the master bedroom that has great little fairy lights that added a romantic touch to the event.

A couple of items of note: The grill outside is ready for retirment - missing knobs and rusted grate make cookouts more than challenging and dangerous when lighting. The water pressure is less than ideal, especially for those of us with crazy amounts of hair. After some frustrating showers, I chose to wash my hair in the kitchen sink for the remainder of our stay. We suspect this may be normal for rustic plumbing. Lastly the a/c, VT can get super humid and hot in the thick of July. Though the house usually stayed a few degrees cooler than outside, the a/c unit was not working and calls to the owner did not provide relief. Seems the new control panel was the culprit? Even with all the fans going and windows open, it was a hot stay that lead to more than one cranky wedding guest. This bride was hard to keep in her dress simply due to the heat. Melted bride is not plesant to be around - my only true bridzilla moment.

This home helped us launch the next chapter in our life. We are pleased overall and would definately consider staying here again.

Peaceful getaway

  • 4 of 5
Our stay was overall great. Our Family stayed here before my brothers wedding. grounds were neat and tidy. Only negative with this place was no AC whatsoever. The camp reached in the upper 80's everyday, was extremely hot.... Luckily the cool night air would cool the place a bit.. otherwise it would have been to hot to sleep. Otherwise we really enjoyed our stay, thanks for the use of the Kayaks.
