Home, 2 Bedrooms + Queen Sleeping loft, 2 Baths (Sleeps 6-10)

Welcome to The Gateway Cottage! Our beautiful upscale 1765 sf 'cottage' is situated at above 7000' altitude on a peaceful acre of cool pines in Northern Arizona, 45 minutes from Grand Canyon, 15 minutes from Williams. Flagstaff is 25 minutes and Sedona an hour away. It has a tastefully decorated interior, including 2 King bedrooms and 2 full baths, a sleeping loft with a Queen bed and a BIG twin fold out chair, comfortably accommodating at least 8 guests, and up to a maximum of 10. See the stars through the skylight from the king size bed in the master, and the queen bed in the loft as well. The fully stocked kitchen includes everything you need, bring your groceries and make a simple or gourmet meal. The laundry room includes linens and towels. Fun activities (winter and summer) are nearby, including the Grand Canyon, Sedona, Grand Canyon Railway/Polar Express, Bearizona and the Deer Farm, as well as museums, observatories and outdoor recreation such as fishing, ATV trails, hiking, skiing, sledding and more!

About Darrel & Merrie Edmonds

Our names are Darrel & Merrie, we met in Williams & have been married 40 years. We have 2 grown children and 5 grandchildren.

Why Darrel & Merrie Edmonds chose Williams

Merrie grew up in the area, and has always called it 'home', she loves the mountains, pines and the quiet pace of the location. We purchased the acre in 2002 and dreamed of the day we would see our cabin there on the property. We drew the plans and sub-contracted the construction beginning in 2005, the home was, for the most part, completed in 2007. We have enjoyed the process, and have been doing some finishing touches since then. Now, we would love to share it with you.

What makes this house unique

We enjoy taking the family up to the cabin to enjoy the cool weather in summer, the smell of the pines, relaxing around the firepit and driving the sand rails on the forest service roads. We are always excited to see the deer, elk and antelope in the area, and feeding the Kaibab squirrels that live in the neighborhood. Many a meal has been shared on the open rear deck. The winters are beautiful with the fresh snow, holidays in front of the fireplace with the scent of cedar wood, freshly baked cookies and coffee. Christmas in Williams is a sight to see, with the lighting of the huge Christmas tree, and boarding the Polar Express is a joy for the kiddies, young and old. Bearizona wild animal park is a must see, near Williams, only 8 miles away.

Notes:
Our beautifully decorated 1765 sf home on an acre of pines offers 2 King bedrooms, a Queen bed and a twin sleeper chair in the loft, a queen sleeper sofa in the living room as well as a playpen/crib and extra pillows. We provide all linens, kitchenware and utensils, some spices, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, spiced cider and popcorn. Spend time in Williams shopping the unique stores there, taking a walk in the cool pine scented air or relax on the porch. Pine wood is provided for the fire pit in the back yard, and cedar wood is provided for the indoor fireplace. We plan on adding a large playset, a horseshoe pit and additional shrubbery/landscaping next spring. Please come and enjoy yourselves here at The Gateway Cottage.

Just recently took my parents on a trip of a lifetime to the Grand Canyon for their 40th wedding anniversary...we stayed in this wonderful cabin! So thankful for how we felt "at home". This cabin is spotless, inviting, secure, roomy, full of amenities, and more! Thank you To the Edmonds for making this reasonably priced home available! You won't be disappointed if you stay here!
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Pet-friendly, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

Our Grand Canyon Adventure

This was our first time renting through this process as we normally stay in hotels when we travel. However, since this time there were six of us, we decided to rent a place. We were going to the Grand Canyon and the drive every day was not bad, roughly 45 minutes.

Merrie was always very responsive. Instructions were clear and easy to follow (I do suggest including the wireless information when the address and door code are sent to the renter) The cottage looked exactly like the pictures...it is very well kept, clean, welcoming and the kitchen has everything you would ever need...

We stopped in town (about 20 minutes away) before we got to the cottage for grocery shopping and that made it soo much easier since we got in late.

We really enjoyed ourselves and created great memories with friends and family...our only regret is that we should have planned a longer stay!!

I would certainly recommend this property and would use again if we travel back to that area of the country.

Lovely Cabin

Came with a family group of 7 adults to see the Grand Canyon. We spent 5 days at the cabin and enjoyed it so much we spent one down day just relaxing there!
We enjoyed the outdoor fire pit, several dinners prepared on the grill and rocking on the front porch. The cabin is adorable, comfortable and is located in a very pretty area. We were thrilled to see jack rabbits, squirrels, chipmunks and deer during our stay.

We visited the south rim via the Grand Canyon Railway and throughly enjoyed it. Took day trips to the skywalk on the west rim and a half day smooth water rafting trip in Page, also throughly enjoyed! Spent one evening walking and shopping in downtown Williams on Rt 66!

Owners were a pleasure to work with and we all highly recommend the cabin and would definitely stay here again!

I stayed here for a week with my wife and parents in April 2013. It is a fantastic place to stay. I highly recommend this house. It is exactly as described on vrbo. Maybe even better. We enjoyed coming back to the cottage after a long day of seeing the sites It is easy driving to Williams. We took day trips to the Grand Canyon. Oak Creek canyon and Sedona. Sunset Crater Volcano and Wupatki National Monument. Walnut Canyon and Montenume Castle National Monuments just to name a few of the things we did. I would rent this house again if I am in that area of Arizona again!

A Fantastic Week!

We stayed in the Gateway Cottage the first week of April. There were 7 adults and one baby. The Cottage is exactly as described -- it is wonderful! I was amazed at how clean it was -- the floors literally were shining! The kitchen is better equipped than my own. We cooked every morning and evening meal there and never lacked for any utensil, bowl or pan.
Our favorite thing was to build a fire in the fire pit outside. We would sit out there for several hours each evening.
The location of the Cottage is ideal -- we took a day trip each day; we went to the Grand Canyon, Sedona, Route 66, etc. No place was more than an hour away. We rented bicycles at the Grand Canyon and rode the south rim -- it is the best way to see the GC.
The weather was absolutely perfect when we were there. Cool at nights and warm during the day with beautiful blue skies. And no crowds at any of the places we went. This is a great time of year to visit northern Arizona.
The owners were a delight to deal with -- so kind and accommodating. I would definitely recommend the cottage to everyone.

The cottonwood tree should be getting it's leaves, and the bulbs on the west side of the house blooming. Spring is a beautiful time there! Hope to have you back again if you are out this way again
