Good Afternoon Roger,
We loved to stay at your beautiful apartment! Everything worked fine, and we had good times there.
Next time we come back to Miami, or if we know someone that will be looking for a nice place to stay, we will indicate your place.
Thank you very much,
A fantastic apt located in South Beach which has the most wonderful roof terrace to spend your days in the sun on.
An oasis amongst the hustle and bustle of South Beach yet only a 10 min walk to the beach itself. The apt is furnished wonderfully well with everything you need including a fantastic cable TV and on demand set up.
But it's the roof terrace with its jacuzzi, loungers, full kitchen with BBQ that makes this place what it is. Truly private it provides a place to relax and catch the sun without the need leave the apt.
The owner was always quick to respond to emails etc and was a pleasure to deal with.
We will be back.
Highly, highly recommended
This was by far the best stay in Miami I ever had. The condo is fully equiped and the decoration is marvellous. I will go there again. I place to relax and enjoy!
Just returned from a fabulous week in South Beach at Roger's chic and stylish condo. Tucked in a shaded courtyard, coming home after a day's exploration was bliss. So much so that we opted to bbq on the roof top patio most nights. Without going in to detail (as other reviewers have done so accurately) the roof top patio is fabulous and it is very hard to find a condo with ample outdoor space in South Beach. If that is something you enjoy - look no further.
We would not hesitate to recommend this property. Both the owner (Roger) and the on-site manager (Octavio) provided excellent customer service from start to finish. All questions were answered promptly and the one time we required help during our stay (ran out of propane for the bbq) there was a new full tank delivered within minutes; literally, minutes.
We had a car rented but you honestly don't need one. It stayed parked most of the time. We walked for hours every day, partly for exercise and partly because everything is within walking distance. We also rented the citi bikes available at a stand one block up from the condo and and cycled for hours. Like many large cities the bikes are readily available, can be rented for various terms and can be returned all over the city. Extremely convenient not to mention fun :)
One of the days we did venture out with the car was to play golf at the Miami Beach Golf Club. Probably one of the nicest courses I've played and less than 2 miles from the condo!! Little tip: they provide a discount for visiting Canadians (and I am sure visitors of other nationalities as well!) The course is visually appealing, well taken care of, has lots of interesting wildlife and the practice facility second to none. Lunch afterward at the clubhouse restaurant was also excellent.
South Beach is a world unto itself and although it was fun to experience it, the famous Ocean Dr, the Lincoln Road shopping district, Collins Ave and all the other amazing sights and sounds it was enjoyed more because we had our own private retreat away from all of that when we chose to be.
Thanks to Roger, Octavio and their team behind the scenes for making our first visit to South Beach so memorable!
Our philosophy has always been that the world is a big place and there isn't time to return to the same place. But that's exactly what we did recently: We stayed in South Beach at Roger's fabulous condo for the second year running.
* It is stylish yet comfortable. The kitchen is well-equipped with everything you will need (unlike many places we've stayed at), the bed is excellent, and there are two bathrooms, allowing each of us to colonize our own primping and washing-up area.
* It has a wonderful living/entertainment room. If you feel like a night in you can settle in and veg out on Roger's excellent collection of DVDs, or take advantage of full cable access. We recommend the two-season Magic City, set in South Beach in 1959, on Netflix.
* The rooftop, accessed by a spiral staircase, is total glam (see the listing photograph. It is even better than it looks). There's a hot tub, an excellent BBQ, and a fully-equipped kitchen and dining area.
* Roger lives in London (but replies promptly and cordially to any questions) but if guests need anything the excellent Octavio, who lives in the complex, is close at hand.
* The condo is well-located. There's a Whole Foods an eight minute walk away. The beach is 10 minutes away. It's close to Washington Avenue and Lincoln Avenue, two main boulevards. The building is located in a residential area where you get a good sense of the community.
* We recommend lunch at Yardbird (Southern comfort food) and My Ceviche (fresh seafood in a whole-in-the-wall takeout). Dinner at Khong River House. All are walkable from the condo.
Actually I don't know where to begin and how to express our impressions! Everything was much better than expected - and because of the description and the pictures in advance we expected a lot:-) From the first contact via e-mail Roger was very gentle, reliable and caring. It was a pity that we haven't met him personally (He was abroad during our stay). But his friend and "caretaker" Octavio was as gentle, reliable and caring as Roger himself. One call and Octavio was there, took care for everything and fulfilled each single possible wish. E.g. as I bought the wrong pots for the coffeemaker, I called Octavio to ask him if he knew where I can get the right ones. He showed up immediately with two packs of coffeepots. Really the best hosts ever!!! Thanks for your efforts, guys! We felt on top of the world.
Quite the same I definitely can say about the condo itself - it was just perfect. Extremely tidy, well designed, almost brand-new and perfectly (fully) equipped. There was nothing you could have missed. Starting with cutlery (which was even there twice - in the kitchen in the apartment and in the kitchen at the rooftop terrace) to washing machine, up-to-date full-automated air-condition, the two bathrooms with enough towels even for the beach, sanitary equipment and coffeemaker till the goodies of the terrace with barbecue, whirlpool and a lot of possibilities to relax. We were out for dinner only once, because the barbecue kitchen at the terrace was to inviting to just put a steak on and relax at the terrace while the grill does the work for you. It was simply to nice up there. Nothing and no one that could have disturbed. The condo is top located - 5 min. on foot to Ocean Drive and the beach as well as to Washington Ave. and Collins Ave. where all the necessary shops were. 10 min. to Lincoln Road mall. 15 min. by car to the airport, and so on. It's a part of a small condominium of four houses, very quiet and well-kept with absolutely nice neighbors. If we could give Roger, Octavio and the condo more than the possible five stars we'd do it definitely!
If you plan a trip to Miami, don't search further more. This condo and especially the customer service of Roger and Octavio is worth every cent you pay! I guess we will go to Miami Beach again. And if we do, we definitely will book Roger's condo!!!
1) Be lucky enough to stumble on this listing.
My partner and I were looking at hotels when she came across this Miami rental. The pictures looked beautiful and all the ratings were five stars. We had never used HomeAway before, and had reservations about whether the reality would live up to the listing, and the reliability of the recommendations. With some wariness, therefore, we enquired about a booking. The host was prompt and helpful in his responses, and more than happy to chat on the phone.
On arrival, we were delighted to find a unit that looked better in reality than online. Two older units have been merged to form one large, impeccably-furnished apartment on the second floor. The roof has been converted into an enormous deck that sits privately above the surrounding rooftops.
We both love good design, and this place is full of attractive and well-thought-out features. There's something of a nautical feel to the deck with the circular stairs that take you up through a stairwell resembling a ship's wheelhouse, and the shade covers are sail-like. The same nautical feel of teak is evident in the mirrored closet space adjacent to the bedroom. The main bathroom is a clean white cube with a large glass-enclosed shower. The huge lounge has a high def TV streaming movies (this caused conflict between watching films and wanting to go out, in the end I managed lots of both).
Step 2: Enjoy the oceanfront.
Location-wise, the unit sits just a few blocks from the beachfront with its famous art-deco hotels. Close enough to the action and the beach but far enough that there is quiet and privacy. We loved checking out the different hotels. We'd swim in the ocean and in the late afternoon and come back to our deck hideaway for a barbecue and relaxing hot tub as the sun went down. If you want to get any work done, there is a nice desk and wireless.
Step 3: Don’t worry.
When some minor issues cropped up, our host was very responsive. Example: the coffee machine died, so he had a new one delivered. We found him to be thoroughly trustworthy and reliable. He has thought through the needs of his guests and covered everything.
One small point -- if into cooking, one might prefer the kitchen to have an extraction fan, larger oven, perhaps newer saucepans. But these are minor quibbles for all you're getting. This is spacious tropical elegance in keeping with the glamour and ease of South Beach. We hope to visit again.

A 10 min walk will lead you to the outdoor Lincoln Road Mall, The New World Symphony, the Fillmore Theater, a multiplex cinema and a plethora of both fine-dining and casual restaurants and bars. The nightlife in Miami Beach is unsurpassable.
