Wonderful Visit!
My husband and I just spent the Thanksgiving holiday at this lovely little gem. It was conveniently located to close to our daughter, about 3 blocks from the subway. The neighborhood is chock-a-block full of small mom and pop stores, take-out restaurants, sit-down restaurants, small grocery stores, 2 great bakeries, 2 great bagel shops and a really big grocery (Key Market~ right by the subway). Trust the photos and description, they are accurate. The place was clean and comfortable. We actually cooked a full Thanksgiving dinner and had a total of 9 attending. The kitchen has limited cook wear, but I brought aluminum casseroles, etc. and it was fine. Be sure to walk around the neighborhood, especially the shops on Ditmars and 31st Street. We felt very safe, and there were always a lot of people out walking, no matter what time we were out.
The only downside that we could see was that it is on the 5th floor, without an elevator. Not being used to this form of "exercise" (especially when lugging up suitcases), we were huffing and puffing a bit. But surprisingly, it did get easier as the week passed! We would also suggest that they provide basic cable TV, since we are addicted to the daily news and a few TV programs (they do have TV, but not being familiar with internet TV, we couldn't figure out how to use it). We would definitely return to this apartment....hoping that will be in the spring!
