AHHHHHH!... LITTLE HOUSE

Isle La Motte Cottage Rental Photos and Description

3 bedrooms , 1 full & 1 3/4 bath, sleeps 6

As beautiful and peaceful on the outside as it is on the inside, you can be among the first to enjoy a stay at this brand new, year round lakeside cottage, completed and just listed for rent in April, 2012. Situated just steps away from the quiet western shore on the southern end of the historic island sanctuary of Isle La Motte, you’ll enjoy spectacular sunsets over Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains right from your own screened-in porch. Built by a local craftsman, the cottage features decorative woodwork, charming furnishings and attention to detail that is evident in every aspect of this island getaway.

Isle la Motte is perfect for bike riding and exploration, which will surely include a walk to the Historic Fisk Farm for Sunday afternoon Tea. Each week in July and August, features musical entertainment and art exhibits on the lawn and in their historic horse and carriage barn. Every visit to the island should include a visit to the Fisk Quarry Preserve, a 20 acre site which contains rich wetland habitat for birds and animals as well as home to the 450 million year-old Chazy Fossil Reef . Be sure to also visit St Anne’s Shrine on the northern point of the island, the site of the island’s first French settlement in 1666, which included a fort and chapel.

Suitability:
  • pets not allowed
  • non smoking only
  • children welcome

SIMPLY DELIGHTFUL

  • 5 of 5
We just returned from a week-long stay with our three daughters -- ages 9, 7 and 6 -- at the Little House. None of them wanted to leave and my husband and I were reluctant to drive away, too. We're city folk and we fell in love with Isle La Motte. So much good to say about Little House. Our girls learned to canoe and kayak (they've never been in one before), swam off the dock to the floating dock nearby, enjoyed biking around the island and were treated to a special trip to Alex and David's friends' farm (our girls fed baby goats and a baby miniature pony). Alex and David were so completely attentive to things we didn't even ask for (like a larger frame bike for my 6'5" husband) and arranged the farm trip knowing we had young girls. The kitchen is so well equipped (everything a foodie could want) and the home is so thoughtfully and well constructed. A lovely vacation, thanks to a lovely couple (whom we've never met) with a lovely home that's now a lovely memory for us. We can't wait to return.

JUST PERFECT!

  • 5 of 5
We had the pleasure of staying at the Little House during the Fall 2013 "leaf season." The house was just perfect for our family. The master on the main was ideal for grandparents with limited ability to climb steps. The kitchen was fully equipped and we cooked the whole time that we were there. The house was warm and toasted with the radiant heat in the floors and great insulation. It was so nice to not hear the furnace during on and off. The house was beautifully built and I found myself taking notes for our next home. Alex and David were terrific before and during our visit. They were available without being intrusive and just delightful people. Be sure to visit the fossil area (sorry, have forgotten the name). It is a great treasure of history! The drive off the island was beautiful and easy. We felt so sad to leave and look forward to returning one day. Our 2 year old keeps asking about "our Little House."

PERFECT GETAWAY

  • 5 of 5
We were fortunate to stay at Little House in Isle La Motte as a getaway after our son’s wedding in October. It was perfect. The view of Lake Champlain is incredible. We enjoyed spectacular sunsets from the house and from the private deck across the road.

Alex and David are so kind and helpful. They are close by and can be counted on to help out, if necessary (i.e., providing a spare key when you lock yourself out!). After asking about our interests, Alex gladly shared her ideas of things to do in the surrounding area, which we really appreciated.

The house is beautifully and comfortably furnished. Even though it was comfy and cozy for the two of us, Little House would be perfect for a family, too. The finishing details in the house are amazing. The place is immaculate and it has the most fully equipped kitchen we have come across in any rental cottage. For outdoor adventures, there are bikes, kayaks, and a canoe provided. The island has an interesting history and we spent many hours walking, running, and biking, exploring all it has to offer.

We certainly would not hesitate to recommend Little House to anyone interested in a relaxing vacation in Vermont.

A PERFECT RETREAT WITH STUNNING VIEWS

  • 5 of 5
We loved this house! It's adorable... the perfect size for our family. The home is very well designed....new, clean, very comfortable and it has fantastic views of Lake Champlain. Great kitchen, bathrooms and cozy bedrooms.

The house has a terrific screened in porch, perfect for dinners, family games or a glass of wine. They have kayaks, a canoe and bikes for use... and we used them all! Biking around the island is a fun family activity and we loved biking to a cafe for breakfast each morning.

The dock to the lake is wonderful. The best place to read a book and watch the sunset over the lake. Or go for a swim in the morning. The owners are terrific and 'check you in and out' and are super friendly.

Isle la Mott is a great place for a true getaway and vacation and this house was fantastic. Peaceful and a great retreat.

We feel so lucky to have found this gem for a winter getaway for Christmas through New Year's Day. The owners provided the best service possible from beginning to end. This new property has been designed and furnished with beautiful detail and has every amenity you can wish for in a vacation home. The home is even lovelier than the photos can portray - think of staying in a Pottery Barn catalog: beautiful moldings, fine furnishings, best quality linens, carefully stocked kitchen with top of the line appliances. With radiant heat through the tile floors, the house was cozy even in the below zero weather. The views across the lake, especially the sunsets, were enchanting; we gazed out the front floor-to-ceiling windows like it was a big screen TV. It is an escape on this tiny island, but the wifi internet and cable TV worked seamlessly. We ventured very little, but definitely enjoyed Hero's Welcome in North Hero for baked goods, sandwiches and all kinds of gifts and fun things.

We would recommend this property without hesitation, especially for the summer with children: there are kayaks, canoes, and bicycles (with helmets and life jackets) galore. We completely enjoyed our wonderful retreat and hope you come experience this, too.

COULDN'T HAVE PICKED A BETTER PLACE TO STAY!

Couldn't have picked a better place to stay!

Our visit to Lake Champlain and Isle La Motte was a perfect getaway. The Little Cottage is in a lovely setting, the furnishings are beautiful, the carpentry is custom and the attention to detail is outstanding. Alex and David have worked hard to create an unforgettable place to stay. We brought our boat up and were fortunate to have weather that allowed us to travel down the lake to Burlington on what was probably the last sunny and comfortable boating day of the season. A ride around the island on the bikes provided was a terrific way to spend the day and the local orchard offered great apple picking, cider and some unforgettable apple cider donuts. We've already recommended this charming home to others and would jump at the opportunity to return.
