Guestbook comments from the owner
Hi Michele, Didn't get a chance to write in your book before we left...so wanted you to know how much we enjoyed staying at your century home last week with Scott and Monica . Your house was extremely well equipped and so beautifully decorated. The girls loved the swing set in the evenings. The fishing poles provided many memories for all of us . We did lots of sightseeing and appreciated the info re beaches, places to eat and sights to see. Thanks a bunch.

FEELS LIKE HOME - AND IS FULL OF CHARM AND COMFORT

  • 5 of 5
We stayed here for a week - visiting from the old Scotia - and absolutely loved it. The house is convenient for the town and surrounding areas. It is warm and comfortable with plenty of room for a grown-up family - and all the comforts you need - in a traditional - but sympathetically modernised - home.

Michele is a great source of local knowledge - her family having been in St Peter's for generations. She is welcoming but not intrusive - and even offered to cook us the lobster that my daughters were too squeamish to put live in the pot (the lobsters lived to tell the tale - but the offer was much appreciated.)

The walk around the coast is fantastic, and the local community very welcoming. I would have no hesitation in recommending a stay here if you are looking for somewhere good in south C/B.

If you do nothing else while you are here - try the seafood chowder from Charlene's in Whycocomagh - about an hour's drive away. It's available both sitting in and to go. It'd be worth a trip back to C/B on it's own - we but would definitely stay with Michele to do so!

A CHARMING COZY GETWAY

  • 5 of 5
During the second week of September 2013, my husband and I had the good fortune to spend a relaxing week in Michele’s beautifully updated traditional home. Situated in the quaint and friendly town of St Peter’s, we found this rental to be everything and more than advertised. Packed with an interesting history that speaks of strength and termination, the atmosphere is of a cherished home rather than a house. Although, nestled at the end of a quiet road with a lovely lake view (lighthouse include), the town was only a couple minute walk away. The home is on a good size well maintained property with a pretty nature walk skirting between it and lake. We loved the wonderful mix of cosy century home living, coupled with the luxuries of updated appliances within a nicely stocked kitchen. The master bedroom is spacious with a gorgeous view from both bed and lounging chair, and in addition the bathroom has a lovely soaker tub. The living room is a perfect comfy place to read, gab or watch movies. The owner Michele was there to receive us, and although never intrusive, she made herself available. She has a good knowledge of Cape Breton and gave us excellent site seeing advice. She is personable and well organized. Overall we would not hesitate to return.

FAMILY OF 6

  • 5 of 5
Hi, We are sorry to write the review so late. We had an exceptional stay. The house was elegant. Comfortable and beautiful all at once. The view from the backyard was amazing. Lots of property outside for the kids to run around. Its secluded enough for privacy but right near a market for all your needs. The Hostess is pleasant friendly and reasonable. If we would come back to St Peters we would stay here again. Thanks again for a wonderful vacation!!

FANTASTIC FAMILY VACATION!

  • 5 of 5
We had a great family vacation in this beautifully maintained home. Owner was awesome! Provided all necessities (even fishing poles!) and suggested great activities and attractions to visit. Michele was readily available if needed for any issues (which we did not have). House is within walking distance to all amenities and a beautiful walking trail behind the house to a rocky beach. Close to Point Michaud which has great swimming and surfing lessons. We would definately stay here again, very 'kid' friendly and a great home base for day trips around the area. Thanks, Michele for a wonderful time!

WONDERFUL HOME! WE LOVED IT!

  • 5 of 5
My family and I stayed in this gorgeous home for a week while we explored northern Nova Scotia. This home was amazing. The furnishings were gorgeous and it was stocked with absolutely everything we needed and more. My parents enjoyed walking to town for breakfast in the mornings and every day my mom and I walked down the trail in front of the house to the beach to pick up sea glass. This is the only beach I found anywhere in Nova Scotia with an abundance of gorgeous sea glass and we had a great time collecting it for a future art project! We also LOVED buying the fresh lobster and cooking it at night in the big lobster pot with the outdoor gas cooker provided with the house. The back porch was the perfect spot to enjoy our morning coffee and the beautiful dining room with wet bar was perfect for our night time dinners. This home was perfect for our family!

GREAT PLACE TO STAY!

  • 5 of 5
We had a fantastic vacation staying in this beautifully restored century home. Michele was excellent to deal with, quick to respond to emails, provided us with lots of information of things to do in the area and her home was equipped with everything a person could need including fishing poles! The house was very clean and we would definitely recommend it to others. The house is located just up the hill from the ocean along a beautiful pathway... a great place for sea glass treasure hunting! Other local activities included fishing at the canal (lots of mackerel and squid), checking out the museums, going to Tim Horton's for morning coffee (it's walking distance!), and playing in the huge yard. Day trips included Fort Louisbourg, Sydney, the beach at Point Michaud, and don't miss the beautiful sand beaches at Port Hood. Be sure to visit Charlene's Bayside Café in Whycocomagh- the best seafood chowder ever! Lastly, if you are staying in this house when there are fireworks (Canada Day), the best view in town is from the house!
