After spending a week in this apartment, I can't think of a better location to see Paris. I like to walk everywhere, and found that I could not only walk quite easily to the main sights in Paris, but I could come home and relax for an hour in the middle of the day without feeling I had a commute to get back out. The host was gracious, informative and made every effort to accomodate checkout times to coordinate with my flight (try that with a hotel!). As it has been pointed out in other reviews, if stairs are an issue for you, then this is not the place for you. Not only is it a few flights to reach the apartment, but the bathroom is downstairs and the sleeping loft on the level above. For me though, it was a small price to pay for an excellent apartment.

Our stay began with excellent customer service from Yael; all our questions were answered, and the rental contract was completed quickly and effortlessly. We arrived to find the apartment just as depicted in the pictures. It was clean and bright, and well appointed. The kitchen was well equipped, including a full-sized refrigerator, a microwave, and a dishwasher. We greatly appreciated the availability of wifi which we used daily. The location - just a block away from a metro station, and very close to cafes and shopping - allowed us easy access to everything we needed. As other reviewers noted, there is quite a climb to the apartment, but we were forewarned, and it was not an issue. At night we did have quite a bit of noise from the street below as people headed home after a few drinks, and this necessitated closing the windows although that made the apartment very warm. Overall I heartily recommend this listing; staying here helped make our trip to Paris an affordable success.

Great Time!

We had a wonderful time here. The apartment was roomy and comfortable, and located in a very central neighborhood surrounded by bakeries, cafes, restaurants, and all kinds of shops, plus the Metro was very close to take us everywhere else. The managers were very helpful and met us on arrival at almost 1am! Two downsides: it is up 5 flights of stairs, which was sometimes daunting after walking thru the city all day. Also, the street got noisy at night with people walking home late. Closing the windows solved this, but could make the apartment hot. It was cool when we were in Paris but this could be a problem on hot nights. Overall we had a great time at this apartment and would stay here again.

Lovely Place

My husband and I arrived by train from Aix en Provence and took a short cab ride to Rue Michel le Comte. We were met at the door by Rebecca who escorted us upstairs to the apartment. This apt. is a 4th floor walkup so best to travel "light". The apartment looks exactly as advertised in the photos. It was very clean with an extremely comfortable bed and a well stocked kitchen. There are no reading lights by either the bed or the sofa. I think this is due mostly to lack of power outlets. However, Rebecca fetched us a floor lamp within ten minutes and we were able to strech cord across a door opening in the living room and we just unplugged it when not in use. There are all sorts of shops and eating places within a very short walk. We found taxis easy to secure just around the corner. We always enjoy the Morais area and would definitely plan on returning to this location. We found a wonderful new sushi restaurant called Blueberry which is on the other side of town. (The name an enigma to us but one that is easily remembered.) This place has only been open six weeks but is already drawing quite a following so best to make reservations. In a city with hundreds of good restaurants, this is definitely one not to be missed!
Owner's Response: Many thanks Mary & Theodore for your nice Review, it is very kind of you.
It was a pleasure to welcome you. Thank you for your advice.
We also hope to see you next time in Paris!
All Best,
Rebecca & Yaël

There are just so many around the apartment !
Car: not necessary

Building history: originally founded in the 15th century the Hostel of the Bear and the Lion, was converted into a mansion during the 16th century by the Lords of Rocquencourt, then in the 17th century it was the house of King Henry IV intend-ant of finances, ... also there's engraved on the facade a vertical declining sundial of the afternoon. This is probably the oldest dated sundial in the City of Paris: The year 1623 is inscribed in good condition and it is visible from the courtyard of the building.

Today the Marais is a trendy area in Paris known for its nightlife, restaurants, theaters, cafés, bars & terraces !

It is now also famous for the fashion boutiques on rue des Francs Bourgeois, art galleries, interior design and antics furnishing stores.

It is close to many places like the Beaubourg/Pompidou center and the Halles (2 minutes walk), Notre Dame Cathedral in the historic Ile de la Cité (10 minutes walk), place des Vosges (10 minutes walk), the famous Louvre museum is about 20 minutes walk by the Rue de Rivoli ....
