The cares of the world will totally disappear as you arrive and become part of a unique and tranquil surrounding that will revitalize your senses.

There is also a one acre pond with its own island. Streams and waterfalls run throughout the property. Sunbathe, row a boat or fish during the day --light a campfire or take a night walk and listen to the frogs and crickets. You can hike the 114 acres or the adjoining 650 acre NYC forest preserve.
The lake is suitable for swimming. The area around the dock has a sandy bottom allowing easy access to the water without having to wade through a mud bottom. There is a raft in the middle of the lake which you can swim to or sun bathe on.
A row boat and canoe is available for your use. Fishing is permitted. The lake contains large and smallmouth bass perch and crappies. The small 1 acre pond is home to our 'pet' rainbow trout. We call them our 'pets' as we feed them. It's something that the our guests enjoy doing once a day.
The log cabin home is approximately 200 feet from the lake. The log cabin has knotty pine wood throughout. The kitchen and both bathrooms have been completely renovated. The kitchen has new cabinets, appliances and granite counter tops. The wall between the kitchen and living room was removed, creating a great room that is at once larger yet more involving. The upstairs bathroom has a new glass block window and tub. The tub area has been tiled and the vanity has a granite countertop. The downstairs bathroom features a new glass enclosed tiled shower, floor and refurnished walls.
The living room contains a stone fireplace for those cool evenings. There are two bedrooms upstairs and one downstairs with an added daybed in the downstairs lounge area. The house can accommodate eight people. Two of the bedrooms have queen size beds. The third has a day bed that, when opened, can sleep two comfortably. The downstairs lounge area can accommodate two comfortably as well.

Best. Getaway. Ever.
This is such an amazing place for a family with little children. You have enough stuff to do on the property that you need not go out looking for activities. My son enjoyed running around in the wide open space and we had the best weekend getaway. We also had the privilege of meeting Tom and his dog, Bella. We got to spend a lot of time playing with Bella. The property is well maintained and a lot of effort is put in by Tom to keep it pristine. This is one of those places where you will need to plan a year in advance to rent unless you visit during the off season. We will surely be back.
Everything you could ask for in a rental property. We stayed for a weekend during the winter and everything was covered in about 4 feet of snow, but we had a great time with our dog who enjoyed running around leash-free! The house was very clean, well appointed, and obviously cared for. Definitely plan on coming back again when the snow melts!
My family and I were fortunate enough to rent this lovely cottage for the winter (Dec. 1 - March 6). We have rented it in the past (in the summer and winter) for only a week or so at a time, so this time we decided to splurge.
The property is absolutely breathtaking, no matter the season. There are a lot of outdoor things to do - like hiking, swimming, and kayaking in the summer and snowman building, ice skating, sledding, and hockey in the winter. It is also a short drive to a few of the ski resorts.
The cottage itself is warm and cozy...truly a home away from home. It has recently been updated and there are more updates to come. While the updates are nice, we would still love it just the same if nothing had been changed.
The closest towns of Margaretville and Arkville are great. If there is anything you need or forgot at home you should have no problems finding it. There is a huge grocery store with a CVS pharmacy next door, as well as great restaurants and shops. Do yourself a favor and stop by Arkville Bread and Breakfast one (or all) of the mornings you're there...delicious home-style food and friendly people!
The only reason I wouldn't recommend staying here, especially if you stay for an extended period of time, is you'll never want to leave!
This property is truly amazing. We had a wonderful time with our two dogs who love to swim! We enjoyed the property so much that we are returning next year. The owners were really nice people. They provided us with information on places to go and things to do during our stay. Our dogs enjoyed hiking and swimming with their dog. Can't wait to return next year!!!
Totally amazing & breathtaking adventures for all throughout the beautiful 114 acres of this wonderful property of " PARADISE " my entire family & friends who were able to be so lucky to join us were happily surprised & shocked by our priceless vacation memories of a lifetime to cherish & treasure forever <3 look forward to going back real soon for another family reunion & JUST " CHILLAXING " !!!
Margaretville hospital is 2.5 miles from house. There are two veterinarians located in town.
