Overview

Mystic House Rental Photos and Description

4 bedrooms, 2 loft bedrooms 2 full baths, sleeps up to 10

The Captain William Morgan House, a sea captain's home circa 1850. Completely renovated in 2010, this Greek Revival maintains all of its original charm as well as modern amenities. It is located in the heart of downtown Mystic's historic district- leave your car and walk everywhere!

The yard is entirely fenced in. There is a sitting porch on the front and a large, covered, pillared porch on the back of the house. We created a 6 ft. granite fire pit in the back as well as another patio. Vegetable and flower gardens surround the property.

Mystic River views are seen from most windows and the back yard. You can hear boat whistles, church bells and sea sounds. My property is a double sized lot, very private, peaceful and relaxing!

Suitability:
  • Long-term Renters Welcome
  • children welcome
  • suitable for elderly or infirm

Wedding Stay

  • 4 of 5
Sue's house was great for our purposes. We rented all three properties she manages. We were married in Stonington and had relatives in from overseas. It was the perfect location, close to downtown and nearby to the house our relatives rented. Sue was a fantastic resource. I would say her knowledge of the area, the attractions nearby and ability to be helpful are worth every penny. She let us check out the property in advance of the wedding and drove us to visit the other sites including the home relatives of ours had rented from a friend of hers nearby. We held our welcome reception at the main home and she provided the name of an affordable caterer as well as extra tables and decor. She gave us the name of a local deli to get sandwiches for the day of the wedding and even found us a responsible young adult to assist the wedding coordinator. The house was a unique design so it's best suited for a close friends and family, but it's lovely and modern. Renting the two carriage houses provided us (the bride and groom) a quite spot away from the family and was a quiet spot for friends of ours who were in the wedding party. The arbor house down the street was perfect for my SIL and her family. We loved the kayaks, the proximity to the water and the town and the big backyard. The property was clean and well-maintained. The only drawback was the owner's cat on the property because we did have one friend who we later learned had a slight allergy. i would recommend this to anyone getting married in the Stonington/Mystic area because we had a great time spending time with family around our wedding.

We'd also gotten rooms in an area hotel but this was far better because we had so much to do, the hotel was far from town and near no area sights. My now-husband and went running every morning in the area and it was beautiful. Lots of restaurants and seafood nearby and with the Harp & Hound up the road it was perfect before an Irish wedding. We were also glad to have the option to just get sandwiches and cold salads and serve those or pizza rather than always having to pay to go out to dinner. Lovely place and certainly Sue is a great resource for your money. She is reliable and responsible. And the house is adorable, it came out lovely in all our pictures.

Home Away from Home is an understatement!!!!

  • 5 of 5
Well, our long anticipated trip to Mystic, CT was well worth the wait. And we owe 90% of it to this beautiful house and to Sue! I had arranged a 5 day weekend with friends that I hadn’t seen in over a year: myself and 4 couples (total of 9). Sue was amazing throughout the entire year with communication via email back and forth. Always prompt and very gracious! We also lucked out during the last weekend in September to have the most perfect weather! From the minute we arrived, we were all in “awe”! Sue’s cleverly designed home was more than perfect. Every little detail made it wonderful, from the cleverly framed wi-fi password (looked like normal décor) to the shampoos in the shower, and the detergent in the laundry room! The downstairs bath was one of everyone’s favorite. Even the tile in the loft - designed in a beautiful compass - made this house so much more beautiful! We spent every leisurely morning out on the gorgeous covered porch and every night at the huge, stone fire-pit in the backyard. And lets not forget about the wonderful beds, linens, blankets and comfy pillows. There were cards, board games and even a wine chiller on the back porch. Nothing was overlooked! All in all it was trip for long time friends to catch up and be totally at home!!!

PS – for those of you who have never done this, I highly recommend a 2-hour sunset cruise on the old schooner. They served fruit, cheese and crackers and we could bring our own wine. The views are like nothing else and you will never catch a more beautiful sun-set! www.ArgiaMystic.com

Luxury Home Close to Everything

  • 5 of 5
This wonderfully charming home was the perfect place to have a family get together. With six adults and two children, there was plenty of room for everyone to have a little space. The kitchen was a favorite place to gather and the bar stools made it comfortable for us to take turns cooking and visiting. The adorable shops on Main St were just a short walk away too!

The large firepit in the back yard is brilliant and we enjoyed making s'mores while looking at the view of the river. What a treat!

Sue has thought of everything to make this house inviting. Every amenity you can think of, she has it stocked. She even has a basket of comfy throw blankets in case you are chilly in the evening! We had a great weekend and I wouldn't hesitate to rent from Sue again.

Gorgeous Home - You Won't Want to Leave!

Gorgeous Home - You Won't Want to Leave!

Our son was married in Stonington, CT and the Rehearsal Dinner was in Mystic, CT. The Captain Morgan House provided a wonderful, respite for our immediate family from the busyness of such a special weekend for us. The house is within walking distance to several nice restaurants, coffee shops, even a nail salon that was needed at the last minute! The Bridal Party and the Moms got ready here on the morning of Wedding. There were makeup artists, hairdressers, and photographers..everyone remarked so favorably on the interior and exterior beauty, along with the spacious first floor, which allowed for the "girls" to get ready with room to spare! When we returned on the evening of the Wedding, Sue's neighbors called out "Congratulations" to us and we chatted for a few minutes. We really weren't ready to leave on Sunday morning, The Captain Morgan House quickly felt like "home" to us all! Thank you Sue for creating such a warm and elegant home away from home!

Our Girl Scout troop had been fund raising for years to go on a trip to Mystic. We had six 16 year old girls and three leaders. We all loved everything about the house and yard. Being Girl Scouts, we of course made S'mores in the fire pit one night! We had such a great time - able to walk to the shops after dinner each night. Sue, a former GS, was very accommodating and helpful with directions. I can't say enough how wonderful our stay was - highly recommend this house to anyone!
