Fabulous Condo!
We recently returned from a wonderful 8 night vacation in the Ocean Penthouse. It was incredibly spacious, updated, beautifully decorated and fully-equipped. It is also quiet, peaceful and truly luxurious! The views of the pool and bay were gorgeous and we especially loved waking up early morning to the sound of tropical birds and howler monkeys! During our stay, we also spotted a couple of sloths and some capuchin monkeys in the treetops near the balconies. While the condo is a long and somewhat treacherous (narrow, hilly, windy road) from the main road from Quepos to Manuel Antonio, this was not a problem for us as we made it part of our daily exercise routine to go into town for breakfast or to the shops or to hike down to beautiful Playa Espadilla (although the hike back up is not for the faint of heart!) The nearby Playa Biesanz is only a few minutes away and is a great beach for snorkeling and spotting wildlife along the trail down to the beach. We also enjoyed the beautiful pool that is part of the Suu Hotel and the convenience of the hotel restaurant and bar, especially when lounging poolside. We were a party of seven and did not rent a car but we found that finding a large taxi to fit all of us was not a problem and cost about $10 to pretty much wherever you wanted to go. Next time, we would probably rent a car but this was perfectly fine for our first time in Costa Rica and the shuttle from the airport that Estella (the concierge) arranged was enjoyable and stress-free. Speaking of Estella, she was an absolute pleasure to deal with from the moment we booked the condo until we left to go to the airport. She is warm and friendly and gave us some great tips on restaurants and tours and we appreciated the beautiful fruit platter and cake that she left for us upon our arrival. As far as negatives, I have to really think to name a few but they are very minor and may or may be important to some people who are considering this property. The first is that there are no steps down to the pool and restaurant but rather a long steep sidewalk which might be an issue for those who have more limited mobility. Also, the food at the hotel is a little pricey but it is decent and convenient if you do not feel like going out. Again, these were not really negatives to us but in the interest of giving an honest review, I thought I should mention it. In short, we are pretty discerning travelers and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Ocean Penthouse. We will return!
