History and Hythe...:
Sandgate spans 2 & 1/2 kms of Kent coastline between Folkestone and Hythe. It fringes the English Channel . Here you will find an area teeming with naval, military and social history and a village with a fascinating mix of architectural styles. Enjoy a stroll along the sea wall, or explore the network of byways and woodland paths with panoramic views across the Channel. Rowing, fishing, bathing and cycling are also popular. Sandgate is situated next to the beautiful place of Hythe, a Cinque Port with 18th century houses in narrow streets. Behind the beach Martello Towers and the Royal Military canal helped to defend against a possible invasion by Napoleon. The town reflects its defensive hill position over the centuries. There are many beautiful and historic buildings related to the naval background of the surrounding towns for tourists to visit. In addition to Hythe and Sandgate, you should also visit Canterbury.
Canterbury:
Canterbury, within a short drive is one of the most visited towns in England, all because of Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales, an everyday tale of stories (some spicy!) told by pilgrims on their way to Canterbury along the Pilgrims Way from Winchester. The town has pre-Roman and Roman origins and in AD603 the first cathedral was built here. The present one was started in 1070. Famous as Archbishop Thomas a Beckett was murdered in the cathedral in 1170.

TO NAME BUT A FEW THINGS .....
Golf:
Hythe Imperial Golf Club, Hythe, Kent, CT21 6AE. The Hythe Imperial Golf Club is situated 2 minutes drive from the property. Occupying an outstanding position running parallel with the Channel and the historic Napoleonic Military Canal, this very rewarding but surprisingly unforgiving par 68 links course offers 9 holes, 18 tees and 13 greens over 5402 yards. Although the course is relatively flat, it offers an interesting round to a wide range of golfers, and certainly isn't a gentle stroll. Don't take this course for granted - it's deceptively challenging!
