We spent a few days at this cabin over the Memorial day weekend. What a beautiful spot! The cabin is very nicely appointed and had lots of room to spread out.
The multiple decks gave us many options to relax and we loved the use of the kayaks!
When we had questions our emails were answered promptly.
We decided to add a night to our stay and she was able to accommodate our last minute request.
The owners were wonderful and easy to work with. We'll be doing this again.
If you are looking for peace and serenity, Deer Lake is it! The cottage is about twenty miles from Grand Rapids and is not difficult to find. It was outfitted with comfortable furniture, a great bed and a wonderful bathroom--especially the shower. Dishes and glasses were quite sparse. While equipment was available for kayaking, I did not use it but did enjoy the dock. Communication with the owner was easy and helpful. I do hope to return in the future.
Every year, we rent a cabin somewhere "up north," usually on the North Shore. We have rarely returned to the same cabin. Our stay on Deer Lake this year is most definitely one we want to repeat!! The cabin itself is the best ever. So clean and well-cared for, offering the charm of a cabin combined with beautifully artistic woodwork and all the modern amenities we could want, including an incredibly comfortable bed. Extra bonus points for the Britta water filter. Having access to the kayaks and row boat were an added bonus. The lake itself is stunning -- beautiful and calming to view, easy to get into (sandy, shallow), and pleasant for kayaking. A few motor boats here and there, but mostly quiet, even on the weekend. The two decks on the way down to the lake offer relaxation with a stunning view surrounded by beautiful woods. This is a place that is magical, and owner Shelley, although not on site, is accessible and responsive to all needs. We will be returning!
Our family of 4 rented this cabin for a 4 night stay. It is absolutely gorgeous! The water on Deer Lake is so clear & beautiful, and we really appreciated that there were 2 kayaks for us to use. We found that there was an abundance of stuff supplied, so you don't need to pack much. There was a charcoal grill as well as a gas grill, a washer/dryer, nice appliances, and so many lawn/deck chairs that we wouldn't have had to bring any with us. What you can't see in the pictures is that there are actually 2 decks. One up closer to the cabin and one further down by the water. So you can sit in the shade or catch a few rays, depending on your preference. Our neighbors were quiet and far enough away that we felt like it was just our family. You can hear loons like crazy! We also had families of ducks visit down by the dock. There is a really nice fire bowl on the concrete patio just outside the sliding door. And there was a fire pit out in the lawn area as well, but we didn't use it. We had our boat on Deer Lake for a few days, then put it back on the trailer to fish on Moose Lake, which is also nearby. (Actually, the boat landing for Moose Lake is closer than the Deer Lake landing.) My husband caught his first muskie on Moose Lake! The bed was comfortable, and our kids slept on the pull-out couch in the living room. There's wi-fi and cable TV as well. Super easy to pay/communicate with the owners. We will definitely stay here again! Highly recommend.
This is a beautifully hand crafted cabin. It is apparent this cabin was finished by an artist. Each piece of wood work and flooring shows master skills and creativity. A great lake with perfectly clear water, too!
Grand Rapids and Deer River are nearby for restaurants and shopping. Great location.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our week at this cabin. First, Deer Lake is one of the premier lakes in the Grand Rapids area. We thoroughly enjoyed our time on and in the lake. The scenery and views are spectacular. Second, the cabin exceeded our expectations. It was spotless, well maintained, well furnished and featured some exceptional woodwork. The kitchen had new appliances and was also thoughtfully furnished. Wi-fi and TV, though not essential for this kind of vacation, were appreciated and much used. We have already reserved the same week again for next year. I highly recommend it for a couple or small family.
