Thank you for a fantastic week in your lovely home. We had four generations up for one final summer hurrah. Weather was cool and calm, kayaking and s'mores, and board games were enjoyed by all. Everyone had plenty of room and our basset hound delighted with tracking all the New Hampshire scents. Thank you!

Great Place For a Relaxing Vacation

  • 5 of 5
We had a great time and a wonderful vacation. The water off the dock was deep and great for diving and swimming. The area was very peaceful and relaxing, and the cottage was very comfortable and had all the amenities that you would find in your own home. Definitely recommend this to others.

A terrific house in fabulous location!

The house was clean, beautiful and organized. The view of the lake is wonderful. We enjoyed swimming, fishing and boating. S'mores around the fire at night finished off the day. A really great family vacation!

Amazing getaway

  • 5 of 5
Duckhead Cottage is an amazing getaway that provided much needed quiet and rest. The lake is clean, beautiful, and quiet, and the house is perfect--a mix of rustic, immaculate, and up to date. The cottage is well stocked but not cluttered. We did not need to take any extras with us, as all of the water gear, fishing gear, and outdoor items were available for our use. The kitchen has everything necessary for home cooking, and the games provided plenty of entertainment on the one rainy day during our stay. The view is lovely, and nighttime allows spectacular stargazing, with the Milky Way overhead. We stayed for a beautiful summer week with our five young children and made memories that none of us will ever forget. The remote nature of the cottage enabled us truly to be away from it all, and we kept wondering how we would ever leave. We will definitely be back! Thank you for being such kind and accommodating owners and for sharing your beautiful home!

Duckhead Love

  • 5 of 5
This was our 5th or 6th visit to Duckhead, but the first with our second child born in May. We, and our 2 kids were joined by 2 old friends. There was plenty of space for all - in fact, the additional bedroom next to the master bedroom was a perfect place for a babe to sleep - very quiet and out of the way. There really aren't words to describe Duckhead and Crescent lake, but solace, comfort and tranquility abound. We enjoyed great meals, lots of swimming, kayaking and music around the campfire. I can't recommend Duckhead enough, especially for young families looking for some quality time in their busy lives. Well, I guess if I receommend it too much, maybe it will be too booked up for our next visit!!!

Ultimate lakeside home

  • 5 of 5
The cottage is warm and inviting. It is a picture right out of HGTV magazine. It has everything you need for a stress free vacation. The sunroom that overlooks the lake is a great spot for family to gather to eat, play cards, assemble puzzles just to name a few. The swimming in the lake is awesome. No lake grass to get tangled in and the dock is deep water so you jump or dive carefully right off the dock. The kayaks and canoe make for a fun paddle around the lake to sightsee or fish. Just awesome.

Nice, but overpriced.

  • 3 of 5
The not-so-good: We arrived 15 minutes early, and were greeted by "We're still cleaning." Luckily we were able to use the bathrooms, but dogs were not allowed in. We waited another 25 minutes for the cleaning lady to finish. The cottage was clean, but smaller than i anticipated. The microwave didn't work, and we called the owner about it - she said they would send someone to fix or replace it, but no one ever came. She and her husband were extremely nice. The dock was broken, when you walked out onto the main deck, one of the legs was gone, so it slanted down to the rgt, it was almost dangerous with my nephew. The longer dock, isn't really anchored down to anything, so it floats, which was also a little tough to walk on - especially when boats drove by which created a decent wake. The rooms are set up strange - There's a master br (the largest room) and the 2nd largest is ATTACHED to the master. Beds are uncomfortable (but parents said the master was comfy) So you would have to walk through someones room to get to it. Might not be an issue for some, but i didn't want to share a br with my parents. (ages 28/30). Also the walls are paper thin, so if you're looking for privacy - this is not the place! Oh and every time we used the grill, it set the fire alarms off - i think the grill just needs to be cleaned. Also, seems picky, but the door that leads out to the water, the handle kept falling off, and every time we tried to close, its like a magic touch trying to get it shut, it was just a daily annoyance.

The good: the property was in a really pretty, semi-private location in NH. There was a beautiful, large dining room for my family and I to all be able to sit for dinner, with a great view of the lake, with a decent size kitchen for cooking. The cottage had Netflix, which was great for watching movies at night with the family. There's not too much around, but there is a grocery store and some restaurants about 15 minutes away. Also, seems trivial, but there's a great Bose speaker system that you can plug your iphone/phone into to play music out the windows, which was awesome. The bathrooms were newly renovated and clean with plenty of towels and beach towels for use.
There was a fire pit with six chairs for us to sit around, which was nice. There are some great railroad trails around for dirt biking and walking. They also have 4 kayaks, a canoe, & floatys which was nice! Overall good experience, relaxing, but pricey.
