My husband Jerry & I used to take vacation to various parts of the Smoky Mountains every year.. In 1996 we found this lot and view. We knew at once ''this is IT''. We bought the lot and waited till we got old enough to retire. Jerry retired from Publix warehouse in Lakeland and I retired from owning 2 hair salons and a wedding consultation/ cake business. We sold house and everything, moved here, built our chalet log cabin of our dreams. We really enjoyed living here for 5 yr. till Jerry, a disabled Viet Nam veteran, died in Oct. 2010 at the Asheville VA Hospital. Although I absolutely love my home, I feel I need to be closer to my family in Florida now. I hope you will love this home even 1/2 as much as I do.
Helen Hughes purchased this cabin in 2005
Bryson City has so much 'water', so much entertainment for kids of all ages to enjoy. We built this as our home, but now I will be renting or selling it for others to enjoy.

Turkey, deer, and an occasional bear cub can be seen on the mountain.
My family and I stayed at Glory Mountain the weekend after Christmas and the cabin exceeded our expectations. There was something for everyone: amazing views and decor for adults, safe yard and games for kids. Easily accessible to Bryson City, which is why we chose the cabin for this rental. Would love to come back in the spring/summer for outdoor adventures. Clean, homely and comfy rental. Can't say enough good things.
Thank you for sharing your home. It was wonderful!!! Directions were right on, we didn't have any problems finding it at night. Cabin is more beautiful than in the pictures and clean and warm. Beds were great. You had everything we needed and more. Our trip was to bring my grandsons to ride polar express and they loved it. So quiet and view was amazing. We loved watching the birds eat from the feeder. Plenty of room for a big family. We hated to leave.
This secluded cabin was an amazing home base for our visit to the Smoky Mountains - and it has all of the creature comforts that us city folks have gotten use to having - cable TV, WiFi, AC, etc...
While we were here we found that although this cabin was secluded, in a good way, it was close to everything we wanted to do - go the national park, go whitewater rafting (on the Nantahala and on the Pigeon rivers), go ziplining, go shopping at the tourist traps, etc...
The view from the deck was about the same as you will see at one of the viewpoints in the park and the kitchen is stocked with all sorts of stuff that are useful to a traveler - Saran wrap, foil, storage containers, coffee filters, cooking oil, spices, etc...
We had a great stay and hope to be back someday.
We really enjoyed this log house only wished we were able to stay longer. Well equipped with all you need. You will love staying here.
We stayed at Helen’s Glory Mountain cabin the first week of July (2014) and had a really great stay. Her cabin is immaculate and has a million dollar view from the wrap around deck. Close to activities in and around Bryson City. The cabin is in a gated development that has other cabins tucked into the hills. We saw deer on several occasions while heading up the road to the cabin. Really quiet and peaceful as it sits alone at the end of one of the roads. She has outfitted the cabin with very nice and very comfortable furniture and accessories (not dumpy garage sale stuff as some do), plenty of kitchen needs (plates, cups, coffee mugs, silverware). The Little Tennessee River is just a few minutes’ drive from the cabin for those who want to fish, the Nantahala is a few miles beyond that for those who want to kayak or raft. We rented a pontoon boat (Alarka Boat Dock) and spent one of our days out on Fontana Lake which is also very close to the cabin. The Jet boats, tubing on Deep Creek, Hiking, Zip Lines… there is a lot to do in the area. Also, we were able to bring our small dog and that is a huge plus for us. I highly recommend this cabin as a rental.
NOC is only 15 min away for whitewater rafting. Jet Boat rides goes on Fontana Lake only 5 min. Almond Boat Dock rent a boat or launch yours 10 min., Fly Fish in Little Tennessee River at bottom of our mountain. All your summer excitement is here. Or just relax on the deck admiring the long range view of the National Forest. Extremely private, but secure. Zip Lines available at WhiteWater Rafting Co. near NOC.
Smoky Mt. Train in downtown Bryson City. gsmr.com for info. Cherokee is just 15 miles which has the entrance to Smoky Mt. National Park, Blue Ridge Parkway, and Harrah's Casino. Only 1 1/2 hr to Gatlingurg, Tenn. So close to everything. Great Location.
