COSTA BLANCA.A golfer`s paradise: The Costa Blanca is a golfer`s paradise,with more that 20 golf courses located in superb surroundings in a typically Mediterranean landscape. Some of the best golf courses in Europe are to be found along the coastline, offering a variety of different styles and terrains to cater for all standards, from novices to experienced players. With its excellent climate all year round, the Costa Blanca is an ideal location for practising and enjoying the popular sport. Near Alicante city (35km from Benidorm) you will find the courses of El Plantio, Alenda, Alicante Golf, La Finca, Bonalba and La Marquesa. North of Alicante are located Don Cayo, Ifach, Javea, La Sella and Oliva Nova.
GOLF NEWS: Many of the golf courses have been created by prestigious designers in the sport and some have been designed by top Spanish professionals.Alicante Golf and Oliva Nova were designed by Severiano Ballesteros,Arnold Palmer was responsible for remodelling the three championship courses at La Manga., and Panoramica bears the signature of Bernard Langer. Another two magnificent 18-hole courses,designed by Jack Nicklaus, has been completed near Benidorm and are open now since 2006(Real de Faula Golf Club). Some of the courses, regularly play host to Spanish Opens.Some has been the venue for many other mayor tournaments, PGA championships and Qualifying Schools for both the men`s and ladies` European Tours. The prestigious Seve Trophy took place in 2003, and the PGA EuroPro Tour Championship Final Was held in 2004, both in the Costa Blanca. All the courses offer excellent golfing facilities and the average cost of a round of 18 holes is 55 euros.
