L'Escala:
It is situated on the beautiful Bay of Rosas. It has evolved from a typical Catalan fishing village but has a quaint old town that has not been destroyed by modern development. There is a resident population of around four thousand so it is more than just a holiday town. The choices of eating out are unlimited with every taste catered for. Choose from top quality seafood restaurants, tapas bars, pizza houses, cafe bars and burger bars.
Ampurias is adjacent to L'Escala and has two miles of tiny bays with sandy beaches fringed with pines and interesting rocky headlands. Here you will find safe bathing for the children, deep rock bathing and diving for the more experienced. If you want a relaxed holiday with no driving, the apartment is ideally situated with its three swimming pools and attractive garden. Port Escala is a few minutes walk away - a splendid modern
marina complex with facilities open to all. The large sandy beach and promenade at Riells is just down the road.
Sports/Tourist Attractions:
The large protected bay of Rosas is ideal for all forms of water sports, including sailing, water skiing, surfing, kite surfing and parascending. There are many fine golf courses, tennis, riding, diving, and snorkelling and deep sea fishing. All are available.
Boat trips leave from Escala daily visiting resorts along the coast. There are also glass bottomed boats that will take you to conservation areas by the Medes Isles where you can study the life under the sea face to face. There is a well established Go-Kart circuit in Escala.
There are endless places and historic sies to visit in the area. The Greco/Roman ruins of Ampurias, Dali Museum in Figueres or visit local markets. The town of La Bisbal, totally devoted to the production of the most amazing range of pottery and ceramics. Spectacular coastal drives to Cadaques, Puerto de la Selva, Tossa del Mar and Aigua Blava - all worth visiting.
The beautiful and fascinating city of Girona is only 20 mikes away.

By Air: e.g. Many British Regional airports have flights to Gerona (Costa Brava) and Barcelona, or Perpignan, Carcassone and Montpelier. Then taxi, train or hired car.
By Car: Ferries from Plymouth, Portsmouth, Poole, Weymouth, Newhaven and Dover. Routes through France provided by AA/ RAC.
