About SALLY BRAITHWAITE

Paul and Sally Braithwaite. We first visited Monflanquin Lot et Garonne from Dubai 15years ago , fell in love with the Bastide and decided to buy a house and then after a few years the house next door in this beautiful medieval village.

Sally has a passion for painted furniture and interior design and has totally renovated both houses, each over 500 years old, to a fabulous standard. There is a blend of classic historical style, sumptuous comfort and the wonderful ambience of medieval France.

Perfect & Charming

Perfect & Charming

We have just completed our wonderful 7 night stay at this charming home. Monflaquin is probably the most beautiful of the Bastide villages standing in an elevated position overlooking incredible countryside. The village itself is stylish yet "homely" and welcoming - after 7 days you almost feel you know half the village!

As for the house: the more correct description is probably "home". Every room has been professionally decorated (Interior Designed) in a lovely French Country style. Each room has it's particular feeling and the size of all rooms are very large - the photos here seem to not portray this.

The house has all equipment needed and, importantly, the owners Sally & Paul are next door to answer any questions we had. This was excellent and much better than the normal "remote" (out of the country) owners that employ agents to manage holiday houses.

We very much enjoyed our time there and as the week progressed spent more time "at home" & in the village and less time visiting the many Chateaus & villages/towns around Monflaquin.

In summary - a unique holiday experience.

Marvelous Retreat in Monflanquin

  • 5 of 5
We were thrilled with the elegance, location and comfort of this incredible home. No detail has been overlooked...it has a perfectly and completely appointed kitchen, fabulous bathrooms, divine beds with lovely linens and pillows and a spacious dining area. The living room is a fabulous "room with a view" that has beautiful and yet comfortable furnishings.
As you can tell by my gushing we loved it! It is perfectly located at the top of the Bastide, close to the town square, the church and restaurants. After a day of enjoying the neighboring markets and villages, a winery, or drives to historical sites (we were interested in medieval ruins as well as WWII and French Resistance history) it was lovely to come "home" to our relaxing luxury retreat.
Paul and Sally, the owners, were incredibly welcoming, accommodating and attentive to our every need and request. We wanted to pretend that we lived there and they were our best friends. I am sure we will return.

A haven to relax in stunning surroundings.

Situated in the heart of Montflanquin, an historic medieval town, this location is easily accessible by road, plane or train and yet gives the impression of being far from the crowds. The house radiates calm and relaxation with it's charm and ambience and is beautifully decorated throughout. We stayed as a large family of 3 generations and it was perfect for us all. Every small comfort had been thought of to make our stay as stress-free as possible including a wonderful welcome basket of essentials. I thoroughly recommend a visit (except that i'd like to keep it a secret!). Thank you!

Exquisitely renovated and so chic.

This is as close to perfect as you will get. It is a beautifully decorated and tastefully furnished house with large, light, high ceilinged rooms in a beautiful, historic Bastide town. We really think that this is a particularly special property – it feels very French with a contemporary air. A tray of homemade, fresh bread, with cheeses, jams and fruit - this unexpected treat was awaiting us on arrival. The photos on the website are lovely and give you a taste of the place but the rooms are even better than they show - the house is just beautiful and finished to a very high standard. This property is the epitome of elegant, understated luxury – we were delighted to have found such a gem of a place. The owners could not have been more kind or helpful and we would love to come back.
