Overview

Acadia National Park Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Cottage, 3 Bedrooms, 3 Baths (Sleeps 6)

Acadia Sunset Seaside Cottage offers you an opportunity to sample Acadia National Park, lobster, chowder, dining out, boating, sailing, canoeing, kayaking, ocean and freshwater swimming, hiking, walking, bicycling, blueberry picking, birding, garden touring, shopping in quaint boutiques, and more -- or to just get some quiet relaxation and reading time in your cozy oceanfront cottage. Acadia Sunset Seaside Cottage is a 3-bedroom, 3-bath house right on the water with your own access to a private stretch of shore. It has a game room, reading room, and relaxing, screened-in porch in addition to living, kitchen, and dining rooms. It is well suited to accommodate multiple generations or a small group of friends, where you can both enjoy common rooms and preserve your privacy.

You can enjoy any of several cozy nooks to settle in with a good book. Or play ping pong with friends or family on a day at home. You are surrounded by gorgeous sunsets that you can enjoy in your private screened-in porch every evening. And you are steps away from your own private stretch of beach, where you can put in a canoe or kayak, beach comb for shells and sea treasures, or simply enjoy the view out to Maine's famous island-dotted shore, with the Nature Conservancy's Placentia Island in the distance, and Swan's Island just beyond. Every room has a water view and en suite bath. You are less than five minutes' drive from the Acadia National Park trails called Wonderland and Ship's Harbor, which bring you out to gorgeous rocky bluffs along the open ocean and Maine's famous rocky coast. A minute more and you're at Bass Harbor Head Light, the most photographed lighthouse on the U.S. East Coast. In five minutes you’re in Southwest Harbor with ample opportunities for shopping, dining, and boating; in two more minutes you’re hiking Acadia Mountain or swimming in Echo Lake; and in ten minutes you're in Bar Harbor, with its quaint shops, restaurants, whale watching, naturalist boating, sailing, deep-sea diving, Park tours, and many other opportunities.

Few locations in the United States can compare to the beauty and diversity of Mt. Desert Island (MDI) and Acadia National Park. Acadia National Park and its famous gateway towns are treasured the world over as some of the most beautiful spots “where the mountains meet the sea.” Ocean, lakes, mountains, miles and miles of hiking trails, dedicated bicycling and walking trails, gorgeous countryside, and the towns of Tremont, Southwest Harbor, Northeast Harbor, and Bar Harbor provide unlimited opportunities for relaxation and recreation. Come for some much-needed rest, relaxation, and rejuvenation at Acadia Sunset Seaside Cottage!

About Joy & Peter Cutrone

We are experienced travel hosts, being former innkeepers and now rental cottage owners. We both grew up in the Northeast United States, and have traveled extensively throughout the US and Europe as well as Down Under. We enjoy quality accommodations when we travel, appreciate the extra thoughtfulness that can make a stay more pleasant, and strive to give that experience to our guests.

Joy & Peter Cutrone purchased this cottage in 1999

Why Joy & Peter Cutrone chose Acadia National Park

Acadia Seaside Cottages are family-run vacation rental properties. We have capitalized on Peter's years of experience as an innkeeper in New England and our shared love of travel to bring you a warm cottage experience in one of America's most beautiful National Parks. An oceanfront setting, the comforts and conveniences of home, and access to a greater range of activities than you can possibly pursue in a weeks’ time combine to give you a vacation experience that you’ll treasure for years to come.

What makes this cottage unique

Acadia Seaside Cottages are convenient to all that Acadia has to offer, without being directly in the hustle and bustle of a summer seaside resort. You are directly on the water, and can enjoy ocean views under a spectacular sunset, explore the beach, or explore the Park at your leisure.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had an absolutely marvelous time. The cottage was perfect for us. It was a place we could have stayed longer and just sat on the porch and vegetated. The sunsets were beautiful and were enjoyed from the porch. We saw many sights but was always glad to return to the cottage. Thank you for providing such a wonderful place.

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, father and I simply didn't want to leave. Each day we were torn between going out to enjoy the surrounding area and staying at home to enjoy the house and Duck Cove right outside the door.

The place was spotless and well stocked. We were particularly grateful for the laundry detergent since that was something we did not think to bring with us. Nice touch. Views were superb, beds were comfortable, house nicely laid out, and we so enjoyed the ping pong -- our nightly tournaments provided much hilarity!

Communication with Joy and Peter couldn't have been better. Our stay was totally perfect, and we hope to return for a longer stay next time.

Lovely house, well-appointed. Can't ask for more!

This is a beautiful house, tucked into a quiet cove on the "quiet side" of Mount Desert island. This house is deceptively large, with two cozy bedrooms upstairs and a downstairs master. As a family all traveling together, we were surprised (and grateful!) to see that each bedroom has its own bath, with plenty of towels. Everything was spotless and very comfortable. The owners have taken great care to make your stay comfortable, with wifi, board games, a ping pong table, and a tv with a handful of local channels and DVDs to watch. They also leave some nice brochures and maps for you.

The kitchen is stocked with just about anything you need to cook - there were more than enough pans, utensils, glasses, dishes, etc. for us to make a few meals and snacks at the house.

The location was also perfect for us. Sunsets are indeed lovely at this cottage, and it is close to a few cute restaurants and places to hang out. Mostly we enjoyed the quiet seclusion that this offers. If you want to be in the mix in Bar Harbor this is probably not for you, but if you want nearby park access with a nice quiet retreat at the end of the day, this is a great offering at a very reasonable rate. We would absolutely stay here again and would recommend it highly to anyone.

A wonderful vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We have really enjoyed our stay at Acadia Cottage, we even said to ourselves that it was probably the best place we've ever rented! Very scenic, quiet, secluded location, yet easy access to all the best Acadia National Park has to offer. The cottage is spacious, tastefully decorated, has all the comforts and essentials, plus nice little extras to keep all the generations happy - like books for adults and games for the kids. Highly recommend!

Best Vacation Ever! Five Glowing Stars

  • 5 of 5

My husband & I are celebrating our 40th anniversary this month and decided to take our 2 daughters & their husbands & our grandchildren (all under 5) to Acadia for a week. After looking at dozens of homes , I came across this one that sounded perfect for our family. The pictures do not do this place justice. We were surprised at how spacious, open, and airy it was inside. The house was lovely, clean & comfortable. It was evident that the owners put a lot of thought in to special details. We mostly ate in, rather that take the littles out to dinner, and the kitchen was well equipped with plenty of room to work. We also grilled several evenings. We left the cottage before 9 each morning, and drove to our daily destination: Beach day at Echo Lake. Bike Riding around Witch Hole Pond and Eagle Lake. Picking Blueberries. Driving Park Loop Road & up Cadillac Mt. Bar Harbor with a walk to Bar Island at low tide. Walked the Shore Walk as well. Spent an AM in Northeast Harbor & then Thuya Gardens. AM in Southwest Harbor & had fresh blueberry pie at the Quietside Cafe. We would then come back mid afternoon to put the littles in for naps. This was the time we adults could rest, read on the screened in porch, walk along the beach, or ride bike locally. The Cove is beautiful, and ever changing. Beachcombing was a big hit with all of us! After dinner in the evening, we went to places close by: Wonderland Trail, Twice to the Bass Harbor Lighthouse. And even one evening to the local school playground for the kids. We had the privilige of meeting the owners who were staying near by. One day Peter installed a DVD which we used in the evenings. Another time a screen blew off & he immediately replaced it. Coming from hot, muggy PA in August, we weren't sure about not having AC. We never needed it. There is always a wonderful breeze coming off the cove, the house was always cool & some nights actually got cold. We had to close windows several evenings. From the quiet, peaceful mornings, to the dazzling sunsets....and everything in between, Acadia & this cottage are truly magical! We would recommend this property to anyone & we hope to come back again some day.

Our whole family loved it.

  • 5 of 5

This was our family's first trip to Maine. The cottage was great. We enjoyed peaceful mornings/evenings watching the tide go in and out on the Cove and the kids loved the ping pong table. It was nice to be away from the busy, touristy areas, but close enough to visit them whenever we wanted and to hike in Acadia every day. Echo lake is also close by for swimming on those hot days. We loved it!
