We stayed for six nights, which would have been sufficient to discover any shortcomings in the property, but we found none of significance. Internally the property is modern, well-equipped, and clean. Bedrooms and living room are air-conditioned, the beds and bedding are entirely satisfactory, the kitchen area is particularly good, and the Wi-Fi and (cable) TV work well, not that there was much time for TV. The neighborhood is good, but has plenty of basic shopping and restaurant facilities. It is an easy seven minute walk to Sullivan Square for the 'T' (Boston's subway) and many bus routes, and there is off-street parking on the property for those who need a car to travel further afield.
It is hard to say much about Ken himself, because we had little contact. However, all of it was good: Pre-visit e-mails were clear and friendly, a query which arose when we first arrived was resolved in just a few minutes, and we felt that Ken would have been there to help if needed.
When we arrived to the appartment it was very dirty as if it had not been cleaned prior to our arrival. The floors were dusty, the trash cans were full of old trash, one of the bed sheets had a hair on it, the tables had not been wiped and there was a dead fly on the floor.
We spent the whole stay cleaning, washing and wiping.
The third night we came home to a trail of ants in one of the rooms. This made us decide to make reservations elsewhere, and that night we had to leave the room with the ants empty.
When we told the owner that we were leaving the next day, and asked for a refund for the fourth night, he said ok.
About an hour after that he called us and began accusing us of stealing one of the pillows. I assured him that we did not take anything from the house but he wouldn't accept it and kept asking where we put it and why we took it. Then he said that he had cameras in the home!!
I was shocked at this revelation, and explained to him that this was a violation of our privacy. At that instant he said he found the pillow!
Very bad experience with the owner and the house.
My family rented this home for our trip to Boston last summer and it was perfect for our needs. My elderly parents were with us so it was ideal that everything was on one level. Our favorite spot was sitting on the front porch after a long day of sight-seeing. Very close to the T-line and we felt very safe in the neighbourhood. The photos are accurate. It's not a huge place and nothing too fancy but so much better than a hotel. The deck in the back was private and a bonus to have. Parking was a challenge but Geng was great in resolving a parking ticket issue. I would definitely rent this home again. Thanks again to Geng for being so quick to respond to any of our concerns.
3 Comfortable bedrooms gave us a great stay. The T is about a 7 minute walk away. The driveway is very tight as it is shared by both flats. Updated kitchen was nice but the kitchen could definitely use more pots & pans, utensils and basic condiments - the lack of these made even basic cooking difficult. Market Basket only a few minutes away by car allowed us to get in the supplies we needed. Also, No icentrays in the freezer. But beyond that we loved this flat and would stay here again
Overall, I would rate this as an excellent experience. The property was very clean and comfortable. The house was easy to get to and within a managable distance from sites in Boston area. Neighborhood is in development stages, but my family felt safe while walking to T stop and area stores/coffee shops. Property manager was very helpful and not in the least intrusive. Washer and dryer on site was a big plus. The only downside was the 1 bathroom, but scheduling made it work out with 3 adult families.
