Arcadia is a perfect, affordable getaway on St. John! Located in upscale Chocolate Hole, this home is just a quick five minute drive to Cruz Bay, and another 10-15 minutes to most North Shore beaches.
The master bedroom is located in a separate cabana, with a king bed, a/c, and satellite TV. There's a private dip pool for your enjoyment. There is a full kitchen and gas grill, both inside and outside dining areas, and a queen sleeper sofa for an additional person or two. Arcadia welcomes children aged ten and older.
Upon arrival, you will be greeted at the Cruz Bay ferry dock, and then taken to Arcadia for an island orientation. There is an on-site property manager who lives in the lower level at Arcadia, and she has her own driveway accessed via a lower road. She is completely respectful of your privacy, but on-call if you should need anything during your stay.
As a St. John business owner for many years, I finally decided to purchase a home on St. John.
Our stay at Arcadia was absolutely wonderful! It was our third trip and by far our favorite. The location of the villa is so convenient for daily trips to the beach and also, the awesome local shopping. The property manager was very helpful, with suggestions for THE best restaurants, (our fav is Asolare), shopping, groceries, and of course, the gorgeous beaches. The villa is private & secluded which met our needs perfectly. The bright cheery main house had all the amenities, and the bedroom was large & spacious with a VERY comfy king sized bed. The pool was perfect for relaxing after a warm day at the beach. We also enjoyed daily hikes from the villa that provided beautiful views of the ocean and secluded homes in the area.
Saint John is a beautiful place, we've been for the past three years and will go and next year. However, Arcadia leaves much to be desired. The photos are obviously several years old and the property is in disrepair. Almost every window does not work because the the handles are broken. The deck is rotting in several locations. The AC broke during our visit an took nearly 24 hours to repair. There is little to no view from any of the deck locations. I wish I had the photos to share we took of the property. We would far from recommend this property. You can find much better accommodations for the same price or better at the Westin.
My husband and I were looking for a few key elements for our stay on St. John: a functioning kitchen with decent pots and pans, a grill, lots of outdoor space, AC in the bedroom, and a pool for cooling off. Arcadia met our expectations for all points, and exceeded them in other ways as well. There are ceiling fans all over the house that kept things comfortable and breezy. We loved the different porches all around for chasing/avoiding the sun during the day. We didn't mind at all that the bedroom was detached from the rest of the house/bathroom (an appealing feature for couples who are traveling with children and looking for a little privacy). The house is convenient to Cruz Bay and close to the best grocery store.
Nancy, the property manager, was especially wonderful. She met us at the ferry and gave us a very thorough overview of the house and resources on the island. When the water tank went dry one morning, she was on it and we had water back by the afternoon.
We would absolutely stay here again!
The property was clean and furnished as promised but there were some issues that were not described as accurately as they should have been. The only AC is in the bedroom unit which is maybe 20yds from the living and dining area. There are ceiling fans in the living area but it can get hot and humid, especially when cooking. Another problem is that the only bathroom is in the living/ dining area which means a walk in the moonlight or a downpour to use the facilities in the middle of the night. It would have been nice to know this in advance.
