Great location, nice apartment, better than in the pictures. AC in all rooms, nice balcony overlooking San Juan Cathedral and El Convento.
The apartment was clean and beautiful with artistic tile floors throughout. Hot water, air conditioning, washer/dryer were all in great working order. The location in the heart of Old San Juan was perfect for sightseeing and enjoying the restaurants, shops and plazas. We especially enjoyed sitting outside on the balcony, taking in the sights and sounds of this colorful city with a cup of coffee in hand. The apartment was very spacious for our family of four.
Irma, the manager, met us at the apartment waiting patiently when our flight was delayed. She told us all about the apartment and directed us to the grocery store. She also met us at check-out and arranged for a taxi to the airport. Then, within 24 hours of departure, she returned our security deposit. We highly recommend this apartment and the Vida Urbana team.
The pictures of this apartment do not do it justice. It is beautiful, tile floors and high ceilings with a full kitchen, although with all of the amazing restaurants steps away, we did not do much cooking! The balcony overlooked a little park and was perfect for watching the world go by; we even saw a wedding at the church across the street.
This is the first time I've booked a vacation rental and is how I'll travel from now on. Vida Urbana made everything so easy! The spacious apartment was perfect for my family, I would have had to get three hotel rooms and this was so much nicer and made it affordable for a family vacation. We'll be back!
We stayed at this property for 5 nights over Thanksgiving and our time spent there was wonderful. The location is perfect for those looking to take in the sights and sounds (and late nights) of Old San Juan. It is only two blocks from a grocery store located in the Plaza de Armas which made cooking in the updated kitchen a morning and nightly routine for us. It is also close to all of the great night life that Calle San Sebastian has to offer. As for the house itself, the furniture and beds are comfortable and clean; in fact the entire space was clean and didn't have that "lived in" feeling I've had with other rentals. The master bedroom with master bath is a huge private space. The only thing I can that think of as a possible negative is that the wi-fi is located in the master bedroom and doesn't reach to the main entertaining area of the house. But, your in Old San Juan, so it is good to disconnect from the world a little bit! Sit on the balcony and enjoy the sights and sound of the city.
This was an absolute gem of a rental in Old San Juan. The property management team was easy to communicate with, easy to pay, and my damage deposit was returned within 48 hours. I would absolutely recommend this property to any family or small group heading to Old San Juan.
Excellent apt. In the heart of old San Juan. Attractively furnished, modern kitchen, good beds. Short walk to El Morro, the old gates of the once- walled city and all of old San Juan. Balcony overlooks the large cathedral and beautiful music can be heard emanating from within. Overlooks lovely, small park and terrific restaurant.
I got married in Old San Juan and chose this apartment for its proximity to the cathedral. It was perfect for our needs and purposes. The entire apartment was air conditioned which is rare in Old San Juan and such a plus. The only negative is that you don't get much of a view since you're staring straight at the cathedral wall when in the apartment. Also the bedrooms are all interior so no windows. This sounds like a big negative but we really didn't mind it once we were in such a beautiful apartment.
This apartment was clean, comfortable, roomy, and well-equipped. Our four kids (16-10 years old) all enjoyed having enough room, a full kitchen where they cooked their own allergy-safe food, washed delicious fresh fruit, and fried plantains for the first time. Wifi was reliable in the master bedroom. The air conditioning had a slight fault, but the manager, Annett was friendly & efficient; she had a worker out to fix it immediately. The building has an elevator, and narrow stairs for the impatient and energetic. Street parking is very tight, but when we arrived Wanda met us with the keys, had saved us a space, and persuaded a local policeman to let us park in front long enough to unload our luggage; we would recommend using the public lot at the foot of the hill as the most economical option.
The apartment is in a great location in the heart of old San Juan, within steps of a 500 year old cathedral, shops, restaurants, even a beautiful little museum dedicated to Felisa Rincon, first woman elected mayor of San Juan whose social programs inspired Head Start in the US. The National Park sites are all within walking distance and have so much history; Puerto Rico was the first place to water after an Atlantic crossing. A small supermarket is just a few blocks away, and we passed so many enticing restaurants.
We used a rental van to take day trips out to the rain forest at El Yunque National Forest, a beautiful place to hike and enjoy the local flora and fauna. Food service there was rudimentary, but adequate. The humidity and warm rain were so different from California; I wished we had more time to hike the trails. We also made a day trip out to see the radio telescope at the Arecibo Observatory, where the world's largest single-aperature telescope was built in the 1950's. It is still an important research tool today. Our kids were amazed and impressed. There is a very good museum there; you can spend hours at the many displays.
We didn't use the balcony as much as I had expected, mostly because the heat inclined us to turn on the air conditioning instead. For early risers and those who visit during cooler times, the balcony is a great place to observe the quaint cobbled streets and church forecourt. Close enough to everything but far enough to be quiet for restful nights. I would highly recommend this apartment as a base to explore all of Puerto Rico, whether for a long weekend, a week or two, or longer!
