'Casita' - Tranquility at its Best - steps to miles of secluded public beach; 20 minutes to Jaco, a bustling tourist area; a breath-taking 2 1/4 hour drive through the mountains from Juan Santamaria Airport in Alajuela (San Jose).

Located in Esterillos Oeste, 'Casita' is your home away from home - fully equipped with everything you need for a laid-back and relaxing vacation yet just minutes to the bustling town of Jaco where you will find dozens of restaurants, gift shops, banks, clubs, tour operators, car rentals, and more.

Less than a five-minute stroll to the beach, you will have many options: long walks on miles of quiet beach, beachcombing, catching the waves for a refreshing swim, or, if you prefer a little more action, catching the surf-class waves! The rocky shelf at one end of the beach provides safe pools for children to play in at low tide.

If your idea of a fresh dinner is enjoying the catch of the day, walk down to the beach and purchase your selection directly from the fishermen as they arrive. Seasonal fruits, readily available on the property, will complete your menu - plantain, star fruit, avocado, coconut, mango, just to name a few. Need limes for those cocktails - just reach outside and pick your own. Our 'rancho' provides additional outdoor living space where you can prepare your meals, dine al fresco, and relax in the hammock or just cool off in the adjoining shower.

Not into cooking? On your way to the beach you will pass several local restaurants and the mini-mercado. 'Casados,' the local plate of the day, consisting of rice, beans, plantain, and your choice of meat or fish are very reasonably priced.

Nice little house in a nice little town. My husband and I just got home from a 2 week stay. This is a well maintained home with all the conveniences you need. Budget friendly with multiple grocery stores in the area. We perferred the Mas X Menos in Jaco for food shopping and their is a farmers market if you turn down the side street next to the Municiple building on Friday. We enjoyed fresh fruit we purchased and toast most mornings but Mike's Famous Banana Bread French Toast is worth the calories at Resturante Certe De Mar (tell him Delaware said Hello) also has great lunch selections. Pizza at El Vago is a must. Go for dinner and have leftovers for lunch the next day. Small convenience store just around the corner to grab items you forgot or an ice cream for the walk to the beach. Nice beach here and many more just a short drive away. We did have alot of power outages the first 5 days and no power for 12 hours one day but after it was fixed we didn't have anymore problems. Internet access for our tablet was mostly limited to after 9 pm, no problem on my Blackberry. We did contact Andrea and she had the caretakes check with the local provider which improved service for a couple days. Overall we were pleased with the rental and would go back to Esterillos Oeste again. Good central location, friendly people and good prices out of touristy area but close enough you can go and then come back to spend the hot afternoon swinging in the hammock under the shade trees. You will find a sweet little brown dog with white paws sitting at the door when she hears you rattling dishes we did treat her to as our faithful vacation friend. Pura Vida!

hang with the locals on your honeymoon...

My wife and I waited until the winter was in full swing up here in Northern Ontario, Canada to go south for our belated honeymoon. What a treat to stumble upon the perfect type of place for us. If you are the type of person that enjoys the company of the locals when you travel, and not so much hanging with tourist types...this casita/village is for you. The house is more well equipped than our own home in the woods up here. It is very well maintained as well. The owner Andrea is very prompt in returning email/phone calls if you have any questions and the local couple that manage the property are sweet folks. The town? What can we say? More miles of perfect beach than you can possibly cover. Surf watching every high tide is a fave past time of the locals.....grab a beer at El Vago and walk over to the beach and chill! Also, you have to walk by Edgar's bar/restaurante 'El Tropezon' on the way to the beach. Do stop in. The patacones are awesome and the karoake on Friday's is a great time (he is a great singer to boot). If you like to relax on a great beach for a holiday, and NOT see touristy tourists then this is the place for you. We WILL be going back and for longer period next time. Muchos Gracias Esterillos Oeste!

Enjoyed our stay - so peaceful and relaxing. The food in the local restaurants was superb and very reasonably priced. Esterillos seems like a real Costa Rican community - everyone friendly and helpful. The beach is outstanding and beyond description. It seems endless!

Quite an enjoyable stay.

We expecially loved the community and getting to know everyone here. The food was amazing and everyone was so friendly from day 1. We've had an incredible time here and can't wait to tell our friends!!
