Unique Cliff Area home sleeps 4, walk to Steps Beach and town. This spacious home is the converted hay barn of the Appleton Farm on a private lane just off Cliff Road at Highland Avenue.
It has an open living and dining area with a vaulted ceiling, fireplace, original white-washed barn board and pickled floors throughout. There are two separate wings; each has a large bedroom and full bath. The deck nestled between the two wings and accessible from the main living area and bedrooms, faces the beautiful and uniquely private back yard with an English garden of hydrangeas, roses, day lilies, bird houses and beautiful evening sun sets. It has a gas grill, teak table and chairs, recliners and umbrella. There is an outdoor shower as well. Privet hedges surround the property which adds to the beauty and privacy.
This home has been tastefully decorated with furniture from Drexel and Martha Stewart and linens from Ralph Lauren and Lacoste. This is a beloved family home that has been consistently maintained by a first-rate cleaning service. The kitchen is fully equipped for entertaining. There is Wi-Fi throughout and high-speed broadband. The family room, which has a desk and flat screen TV with cable, is conveniently located off the kitchen. It too has a view of the beautiful backyard. The house is on a private drive with a litch gate. Traffic and noise are at a minimum. Two vehicles can be parked comfortably on the brick drive and lane.
Visitors can walk to Steps Beach, town, the nearby Nantucket Shuttle stop and Something Natural for great lunches and beach picnics. The bike path to Tuppancy Links Dog Park and Madaket along Cliff Road is nearby as well.
My family of four stayed at Joe's house this past summer. Joe was a pleasure to rent from--he was easy to reach and extremely accommodating and helpful. The house is clean and very well-maintained. We liked the separate wing--the kids shared the twin bedroom and my husband and I had the master bedroom on the other side of the house with our own bathroom. The kitchen is small but has everything you'd need to prepare meals for a week's vacation, and the main room has a good-sized dining table for family dinners. Our kids loved the backyard and it gave us a chance to relax after the beach while they played soccer or catch.
The location off Cliff Road is great--it's close enough to town to easily walk in, but it's more peaceful than being right in the town center. It's just a block from Something Natural, so we walked there almost every morning for morning bakery treats. And maybe best of all, you can cut through the back road and be at Steps Beach in three minutes. Overall, this is a great pick for a small family or even two couples.
On private lane at intersection of Cliff Road and Highland Avenue. Steps Beach is minutes away as is the bicycle path and Nantucket Shuttle.
