If you want to get away from it all...a house with 62 acres of land and complete peace and tranquillity and only deer, foxes and birds to disturb you...

The house has one large master bedroom (with en suite bathroom with tub, shower) and French doors on three sides for magnificent views of the surrounding countryside.

There are two other formal bedrooms on the first floor and one -- with adjoining bathroom -- in the basement.

There is also a sleeping gallery/study/tv area above the kitchen, where you can write a letter or book/watch movies on Netflix, or extra guests can sleep on a futon.

The house comes with two children's beds, and a kids' playroom - toys are especially good for younger kids as our own are 5, 4 and 3.

Once we saw the house with the old farmhouse beams, surrounded by acres and acres of wetlands, wildlife and countryside, we just couldn't bring ourselves to buy anywhere else.

They don't seem to do pony rides (which is the stage I'm at with my kids) but I loved the look of this place, it's owned by a French-Dutch couple:

Notes: We have an Apple TV, with a Netflix account so movies Netflix offers for instant viewing can be watched on demand. There is also a piano, upright but with a beautiful sound, very precious to me as it was my 40th birthday present.

This was a great house for a week-long get together of friends from across the country. The layout was perfect for communal activities like cooking, eating, lounging by the fire or watching deer and rabbits right outside. You must see the gigantic fireplace that even has a pizza oven built in. It was a great hit with all. In addition, three levels of bedrooms assured complete privacy at night.

The house is very centrally located — Storm King, Woodbury Commons, riding stables and movie houses were very accessible.

I must, however, mention that the water is very rich in sulfur. This means that the tap has an odor that takes a bit of getting used to. We didn't use it for drinking or brushing our teeth; but this really is part of the charm of living in the country. (Or so we told each other. But anyhow, we adjusted pretty quickly.)

Overall, I would recommend the house to anyone who wants to escape the city without really driving out too far. We'd do it all over again.

Absolutely one of our favorite places we've ever stayed. You won't find a more private house anywhere. Clean & spacious. Plenty of bedrooms & bathrooms. And the firefly show at night is one of nature's best!!!

Cadet Club enjoyed thier stay

We found this place just over a half hour from west point where our cadet club was able to get away, work on planning their annual calendar, and relax. You feel away from it all but the open fields surrounding you don't make you feel cramped. The kitchen layout is perfect for a large group and the patio is a great place to relax while the grill is hot. My daughter LOVED the kids room and the 11 deer she could count in the field. Overall, we are planning to make this yearly thing and thank the owner for her patience dealing with the cadets making the reservation.

Perfect holiday weekend

The description of the property couldn't be more apt. It's a really comfortable, secluded, tastefully furnished property. We spent a restful long labor day weekend cooking and relaxing. The kitchen is great for cooking, spacious and well outfitted. The owner and caretaker of the property couldn't have been nicer or more responsive in answering questions and making us feel at home. Rural and secluded, you really feel away from it all, but it's surprisingly close to the city.

Property was clean, well maintained and comfortable. I'd definitely go back.
