We fell in love with this inlet, this neighborhood, this beach, these dunes, and this home the first time we visited. Our house is light and spacious, with sweeping views -- timeless, tranquil and restless -- of dunes, beach and water. House sits amidst the dunes, with 300-ft private walk to secluded beach. We share a quiet friendly neighborhood along a block-long unpaved street. A minute away is Goldsmith's park, a coastal inlet perfect for tubing and wading. House includes fully-equipped kitchen, 4 bedrooms (sleeps 8 comfortably plus 2-4 more on air mattresses in playroom), 2 full bathrooms, and large living area and master BR with panoramic views. Two BRs have 1 full-size bed; one BR has 2 full-size beds; and master BR features queen bed and rocking chairs. Outdoors, you'll enjoy a spacious deck, outdoor grille, outdoor shower and private path to secluded beach. Full dry finished basement includes large playroom, washer/dryer. Cable, wireless, phone and stereo. Ceiling fans.

Also located within 500 feet of Goldsmith's Inlet Park, a tidal inlet ideal for inner tubing, crayfish hunting, kids' play and daydreaming. House is located 1/2 mile from closest convenience store and post office; 1.5 miles from closest small town, Southold; and 10 miles from Greenport, the nearest substantial town, with galleries, upscale dining, shopping, movie theater, marina and even a free old-fashioned merry-go-round. Within 15 miles is Riverhead, a small city with outlet shopping, national-brand department stores, aquarium and a great deal of fun for kids.

Great House! Stunning views! Artist bungalow feel!

My husband and I are just back from two nights at this wonderful home in Peconic on Long Island Sound. Even in winter this place offers gorgeous views of the water and a bright and sunny interior clearly decorated with an artists' flair. While there were only two of us this time, we fully intend to go back with our children for a week during this summer to take advantage of this awesome location. We went on a whim and found a great place that we will go back to again and again. Quiet and tucked away, yet near enough that it is a quick drive to everything, this house has it all. Gorgeous views from the master bedroom and living room, fully stocked kitchen, three other bedrooms and two baths along with an additional large family room in the basement with a TV, couch and play area. The house itself has a bungalow feel - not ostentatious but nonetheless spacious, lovely and comfortable. The property was incredibly clean and well maintained. I appreciated the several pages of local "insights" left in the kitchen for us to find, recommending among other things, restaurants, museums and farmstands! The owner was very easy to deal with - especially because we needed to change our arrival date. I would highly recommend the house to couples, families and really anyone looking for a quiet neighborhood, right on the water.

Wonderful home, Wonderful location!

Having just returned from our trip to my native Long Island visiting family, I am reflecting on the great time we had at this property. The owners were very attentive in communication and quickly responded to our inquiries. Could not ask for a more acomodating owner! The home was fully stocked, but simple. Simple furnishings and decore added to the "Cape Cod" feel of the place with all eyes drawn to the view outside. A wonderful deck to lounge on and enjoy the Long Island summer. Too hot? Pop inside for a cooling down in the air conditioned house. The kids loved the downstairs with the ping-pong table and TV. Drinks on the deck at sunset were simply amazing. Close to great farm stands and wineries as well. Thank you for opening up your home to us!

Idyllic Home Against the Backdrop of A Serene (and Stunning) Landscape

I spent three nights at this beautiful home as a getaway from the bustling city. Upon arriving I was blown away by the gorgeous setting – the home sits just along The Long Island Sound, and has its own private walkway to the beach, just beyond the footsteps of a large deck. My stay at Michael’s home was relaxing and replenishing – we spent our days waking up early (eager to watch the sunrise) over breakfast at the large dining table (or out on the deck in the brisk morning air), afternoons taking a swim in The Sound, evenings spent grilling fresh seafood and relaxing on the deck, having conversations into the early hours of the morning. For those who enjoy getting out and about, Peconic offers equally stunning wineries just minutes away from the home. Additionally, Michael (the owner) and Alan (the property manager) are both incredibly hospitable. I certainly plan on returning (and in the mean time, I’ll likely be day dreaming this place for some time to come!).

And a note about getting here - I came in from New York on a short bus ride, and using my bicycle was able to get around town quite easily. And riding through Peconic is a joy!

Beautiful, welcoming house in a stunning location

The house is ideally situated in a stunning, tranquil spot right on the beach with incredible views of the water. We couldn't tear ourselves away from the large deck with its breezes, sunsets and direct access to the water.

The house itself is beautifully decorated with colorful furniture, and was fully stocked with everything we needed. We particularly appreciated the outdoor grill which made preparing dinner at sunset a wonderful experience. We also loved discovering the surrounding area of the North Fork, with its multiple low-key vineyards, wineries and fish markets a short drive or bike-ride away.

Highly recommended for anyone looking for a beautiful, casual and relaxing beach getaway just over two hours' drive from New York City.

Beautiful, peaceful retreat from Manhattan

This home provided a relaxed, open nourishing retreat from the hectic motion of daily life in Manhattan. The large, welcoming dining table, provides a welcoming community atmosphere for family meals and late night conversations and games. The colorful art and furniture creates a creative, peaceful atmosphere for the time you spend inside, but honestly, the daylight hours we didn't spend on the beach, were spent grilling or lounging on the back deck.

The sunsets here are unlike any you've ever seen. And the beaches are nearly empty, save for a few families or couples staying/living in the houses nearby.

I glowingly recommend this home and would happily stay here again!
