Cute, clean and cozy, a true classic 1930’s style cottage located on the “Torch River bayou”, and across the road from Torch Lake. Dock your boat in the back yard. From there you can access the seventy five mile long “Elk River Chain of Lakes”, consisting of fourteen lakes and connecting rivers. Torch Lake and Elk Lake alone provide 27 miles of Michigan’s deepest inland water. The remaining 47 miles provide all the room you need for exploring by boat, kayak, or canoe.
The cottage is located on the south end of Torch Lake, near the Sandbar, where hundreds of boats gather on the holidays for a day to play and swim. You can raft out to the Sandbar from the small county beach across the street, or take your boat out of the bayou, down the river, and out to the Sandbar.
But there’s more than water sports. Walk a quarter mile down to the Torch River Bridge and watch the boats navigate the swift, crystal clear water between Torch and Elk. It’s five minutes by car to the little town of Alden, for shopping, delis and a museum, A thirty minute drive to the scenic towns of Charlevoix or Elk Rapids for shopping and dining. You will be thirty to forty minutes from Traverse City for shopping, golf, casino and fine dining,
Take a day trip to climb the Sleeping Bear Dunes or a scenic drive into wine and orchard country, Mission Point or the Leland fishing village. Make sure you take in some of the local nature walks at the Grass River Natural Area, Skegemog Swamp Pathways, and The Seven Bridges.
Or you could always just relax and enjoy a quiet time in “up north Michigan”.
