October 21, 2011 – New York Times, Emily Brady:
“Sonoma County may be best known for its wineries and the tony (sic) towns of Healdsburg and Sonoma, but West County, as locals call the area around Sebastopol, is where the vineyards begin to give way to rolling hills, bohemian enclaves and the wild Pacific Coast beyond. Sure, there’s wine produced here — excellent pinots in particular — but there’s plenty to explore beyond it, especially around Sebastopol, where in recent years new restaurants, shops and live music venues have opened, securing the town’s position as West County’s arts and culture hub.”

American as Apple Pie
“‘I’ve been to Napa and Sonoma,’ you hear people say, as if they were one and the same. Sure, Sonoma’s 300-plus wineries, like those of vine-centric Napa, offer peak wine tasting, from Ravenswood’s deep Zinfandels to Gloria Ferrer’s sophisticated sparklers. But if you’ve visited only the county’s wineries, come back to sample the astounding diversity that makes Sonoma one of America’s travel treasures.
Spend some time floating in an inner tube down the Russian River and walking amid ancient giants—one over 1,400 years old—at Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve. Poke around the old Russian stockade at Fort Ross, which turns 200 in 2012, or the Spanish adobe mission, San Francisco Solano, in Sonoma town. Hunt for antiques along Petaluma’s downtown Victorian row, and dine on seasonal sake-steamed, aged abalone at Michelin-starred Cyrus in Healdsburg. And don’t miss a flaky, fruit-packed slice of Gravenstein pie from Mom’s Apple Pie, a roadside stop outside Sebastopol. It ranks up there with a Russian River Valley Pinot Noir as a real taste of Sonoma.”
WineBerry is the perfect getaway and Heidi is the perfect host. We stayed at WineBerry with a family of 5. The home has EVERYTHING you could need to make your stay enjoyable. From towels to a fully stocked kitchen. There were kids toys in the shed, lots of board games, bocce ball and ping pong. The jacuzzi was immaculate.
We went into town to Andy's each day and picked up some great produce and made dinner each night in the beautiful outdoor kitchen. The home is the ideal getaway.
It is rare to have nothing negative to say about a VRBO property. But this place truly is wonderful!
Wineberry lodge was more than amazing!!! The accommodations are above and beyond anything we expected. Fruit and wine with a personalized post card welcoming us to their home greeted us as we walked in! Heidi was more than helpful with giving us the run down of the area and property. The backyard is stunning!! We can't wait to come back!!
This is a very special and wonderful home that reflects its wonderful owners. I booked the lodge for my wife's 50th birthday celebration with her friends. Owner Heidi had balloons, wine and chocolate covered strawberries waiting for our arrival, and the next day showed everyone how to use the outdoor pizza oven to make an amazing feast. The home is spectacular, as is the location. So much to rave about - outdoor entertainment area with full kitchen and hot tub, the lovely pond, the spacious and immaculate interior -- with two separate loft areas - game room and library, respectively. We will be back.
This was the perfect house for our stay! We are a group of 8 friends/family from various states who wanted to take a vacation together and this house made our trip wonderful. The main things we were looking for were a hot tub and a kitchen that allowed us to all hang out. This entire house is made for socializing! The kitchen in the house is gorgeous, but we didn't leave the outdoor kitchen much. Even though it was a little chilly, there were 2 heaters that kept us warm.
The entire house is very well stocked. We enjoyed cooking breakfast at home several mornings and dinner 2 out of our 3 evenings. The highlight was definitely the pizza night! The outdoor counter was big enough for all 8 of to spread out our supplies and each make a pizza.
The entire house was very clean and the beds were extremely comfortable. Heidi made the entire process easy. She was prompt with responding every time we had questions and our deposit was returned within 24 hours of us leaving. Some of us forgot our swimsuits in the dryer and she was more than willing to mail them back!
Overall, I would recommend this house to couples, families, friends, and everyone else! Some of us are already talking about making another trip within the year. We can't wait!
Where do I start? From the moment I spoke with both Brent and Heidi I felt like family. They were soooooo accommodating. The house is immaculate and has so much more than you can even imagine. FULLY stocked kitchen, COMFY beds, TV's in every bedroom, awesome showers, beautiful private setting. The outdoor gourmet kitchen is 1000x cooler than the pictures even show! That pizza oven my Gosh! We had it burning almost 3 days straight. A lot of pizzas were consumed, along with some amazing food that was recommended for the Birthday party.
My dad was turning 70 and we had a small group of friends coming and going over the 3 days. We cooked scallops and crab cakes and brats on cast iron pans in that pizza oven!
The large grassy area and back covered with trees was so much fun for the kids and grown ups alike to play outside. Bocce, Horse Shoes, hitting golf balls, etc.
I HIGHLY recommend this house! It was not just a vacation it was an experience that I will never forget and I KNOW my dad will never forget.
THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART BRENT AND HEIDI!!!
This place was the highlight of our California vacation. We stayed here with 3 other couples and we had a great time. We stayed in upstairs loft which should probably be reserved for kids or teens. Most of our time was spent in the outside kitchen which was something out of a magazine. We made pizza after pizza and cooked steaks, etc. The house everything and more that you could imagine. Heidi was great. Although they lived next door, you barely saw them. They gave us our privacy. If we return we would definitely stay at Wineberry again. Enjoy your stay..
