1 Bedroom charming apartment available for rent in Old Town. The best thing about this place is the location, you can walk or take the EL (elevated train) everywhere (cab fares are inexpensive/Sedgewick EL Stop is around the corner). Walk to shops in the North/Clybourn Corridor, Steppenwolf or Second City Theaters, music, restaurants, Lincoln Park Zoo, Gold Coast, North Avenue Beach or the Mag Mile..basically anywhere you would want to go. The apartment is on the top floor of a charming 2 story bungalow with vaulted ceilings and an open floor plan. Wireless internet, Cable TV and phone is set up and free of charge. An abundance of fantastic restaurants and bars within a few blocks. Grocery stores, coffee shops, and endless shopping options all nearby.

Wonderful time here visiting or son who also lives nearby. Today we appreciated your bicycles, used in the neighborhood and to the beach and shore bike path.
This location can’t be beat and the little cottage is a unique home here in the city. Sweet neighborhood!
We like the “village area” & Old Town, Treasure Island for groceries and the shops on Armitage, good old Dunking Donuts at Sedgewick and North and Nookies for breakfast.

Love your little hidden gem! We were able to walk everywhere as well as get taxis quickly if needed. Enjoyed the availability of the bikes. We fell in love with Chicago. Thanks for your recommendations. Thanks for the well stocked accommodations.
PS-Brunch at Stanley’s was awesome!

We enjoyed our time in Chicago immensely! The cottage was a great “base” for seeing the various areas. We’ll definitely be back. Let us know when the Carriage house is ready for visitors.

We came into town to visit our daughter in Logan Square. It was fun to discover this part of the city. Your place is convenient to many nice areas and restaurants (check out The Rustic House on Halstead) and shopping in the area too. We enjoyed walking the neighborhood.
This Old Town apartment was spacious; light-filled; clean; in a quiet, upscale, secure neighbourhood a short walkto the Sedgewick El stop; and had many cafes and restaurants within walking distance on Wells Street. It was well-stocked with all the basic cooking supplies and the Jewel Grocery store was very close. Three improvements that would lift this property from a good VRBO one to an excellent one: a badly-needed new mattress; and a general bathroom overhaul to improve the unsightly tub and the low lighting. Finally, better, more timely communication with the owner prior to and upon arrival. It would also be useful if more information on where to go in the neighbourhood and Chicago in general, was on hand to help new visitors get oriented.
We had a wonderful 12 night stay in this apartment. It is clean, airy, spacious, very well equipped and in a lovely leafy neighbourhood. It is very hard to find fault. The booking and payment was straightforward and a security code for the front door meant we didn't need to collect keys etc.
The place is exactly like the description and photos. The rear deck with a grill was a welcome outside space which we used when we weren't eating out.
It is a few minutes walk to the train station at Sedgwick and then a few stops to downtown Chicago. Also an easy walk to Lincoln Park.
For less than the price of a modest downtown hotel, this was a much better base for Chicago.
In addition to the comforts of home, a good vacation residence, like real estate, requires three things: location, location, location! This cottage has it all: A beautiful, quiet and safe neighbourhood; easy access to mass transit; lots of restaurants and shopping nearby. The parking permits that allowed us to park on the street were very much appreciated.
With mass transit conveniently located nearby, we each purchased a 7-day Ventra pass, got on and off the “L” and buses at will, not worrying if we missed a stop or over shot our destination. We recommend doing the Hop On/Hop Off bus to get your bearings in the downtown area.
The Shedd Aquarium was great, but go early as the line ups are quite long later in the day. At the Lincoln Park Zoo, watching the baby lemur and baby gibbon at the primate exhibit and the young gorillas at the African exhibit provided lots of entertainment. The Field Museum was interesting, but requires a large time committment to see it all.
Uncle Julio’s provided a very good Mexican meal for our first night here (a 5-10 minute walk west on W. North Ave.). Marcello's Father and Son Bakery had great Chocolate Chip Macadamia nut cookies and very good coffee. If you have not tried Potbelly for sandwiches, the location on North Clybourn was excellent and the staff very friendly. Other great places to dine at are: Osteria Via Stato, Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria and Chicago Pizza & Oven Grinder Co.
In addition to full bellies, we take home with us, wonderful memories of our time in Chicago!
Just spent a week exploring Chicago using this place as a base. it was spacious, full of light, well supplied and quiet. Convenient location close to grocery stores, restaurants, and the brown and red line. Parking was easy to find. (Just watch for street cleaning notices,) We walked to the zoo, the park, and home from the Feld museum, via Grant Park, Millenium Plaza, the Hancock observatory, and Carmine's for a late dinner. The City Pass was well worth it. Tara was thoughtful, calling us one afternoon when we were out to let us know that Con Ed had the power down in the area, and we might want to stop somewhere to eat. Altogether a great trip; we will definitely try to stay here on our next trip to Chicago.
The apartment was great - quiet, clean and with everything we needed. We particularly enjoyed it being so cosy and warm to come home to. As the winter was mild we walked most places - Lincoln Park, Magnificent Mile, the Loop, but took advantage of the El when weary! It was nice to have restaurants close by for when we didn't feel like venturing further afield.
Tara was very helpful - emailed and rang to check we had arrived safely and everything was ok.
I had a bit of a panic when she was slow to respond during the booking process - but nearer the time she always responded very quickly and there was no need for me to have worried!
I am always wary about recommending places as people have such different ideas of what is acceptable, but I find it hard to imagine anyone failing to like this property.
This is a well appointed property with character and charm. We stayed there a week and found all the amenities we could ever need.
It was well maintained and located in a quiet and scenic neighbourhood. We were amazed by how quiet it was, being almost in the center of Chicago.
This location is at walking distance to grocery stores and to all of the restaurants and shops on Wells Street and North Avenue. The elevated train station at Sedgwick is just blocks away.
It is an easy stroll to the Magnificent Mile or to the lakeshore.
The owners were very accommodating and helpful. We have already recommended this property to many friends.
