HI! PLEASE READ THIS FIRST: Check availability and make reservations at our Chez Palmiers B&B website!
Located at 1744 N. Rampart Street, in New Orleans' historic Faubourg Marigny neighborhood, just two blocks from the French Quarter and four blocks from Frenchman Street (popular with the neighborhood's locals), at Chez Palmiers you will be within easy walking distance of many of the sites, restaurants, bars and clubs, and the characters and music that have made New Orleans famous. Owner operators Schuyler Hoffman and David Peterson invite you to relax and enjoy your stay in New Orleans in their traditional Creole Cottage. Originally built in the late 1800's, it was renovated in the mid 1990's. What we have tried to create is a home, not just a palce for guests to crash—it is, after all, our home. Furnishings are a mix of some of our favorite antiques and newer things—interesting pieces we find at yard sales, hidden antique shops, and such. Throughout the house you'll find personal photographs and artwork, and memorabilia and tchotchkes we've accumulated and carried around with us over the years. Everyone looking for a bed and breakfast looks for a place that fits their personality, a place they'll be comfortable in for more than just sleeping each night. We hope many of you will find that place with us.
Our Grande Suite offers sumptuous surroundings which include antiques, artwork, and a pleasant sitting room to enjoy relaxing in after a day on the town. You can watch your favorite TV shows on the large flat-screen TV or listen to your favorite iPod tunes on the clock radio equipped with an iPod/iPhone dock. Sleep the night away in the comfortable queen sized bed and wake refreshed in the morning.
Highly recommend this B&B. Location was great. Very nice room accommodations. Our stay was during Mardi Gras. Enjoyed the short walk to and from the French Quarter. Very safe neighborhood day or night. Schuyler and David are fantastic hosts. Each morning they would greet us in the kitchen during breakfast to see if we needed anything and to also help us with our itinerary for the day. They made sure all your needs were met down to the smallest details. Breakfast was excellent with fresh fruits, pastries, bread, cheeses etc. FANTASTIC STAY!
We have been to New Orleans many times but staying at the B & B in Marigny was a first for us... and it won't be a last! Schuyler and David were wonderful host and made us feel right at home. The room we stayed in was the Grand Suite and the name suits it....we had a large living room (sitting area) and bedroom with a large TV and also a refrigerator that came in handy for drinks and doggy bags.. We were connected to the kitchen which they provide a very nice breakfast every morning and was set up beautifully. The back patio has lots of plants and table and chairs to enjoy it all. The location was great....we have never been on Frenchman St. and found it to be as interesting as the French Quarter and many fine dinning places....not to mention music!! One plus was street parking which is not possible in the French Quarter, all tho it is very much a walking city there are times when a car does come in handy.
I would like to thank Schuyler and David for being such great host that answered my many question and making us feel at home. We will definitely stay there again and hope it is in the near future....Love New Orleans!!!
Also love the coffee David and enjoying every drop!!
This was the 3rd annual trip for a group of 6 women. After lunch at the Palace Cafe on Canal Street on our first day, we each purchased a 3-day Jazzy Pass for $12 at Wal-green's and used it on all 3 streetcar lines and the bus over the course of 3 days. What a great way to see NOLA! We loved the location and comfort of Schuyler & David's B&B, as well as their restaurant recommendations. Being April, the water was too nippy to get in the pool, but we ended each day visiting on the back deck.
This trip was with our adult children and Chez Palmiers was perfect for us. Hosts, Schuyler and David have a restored cajun cottage appointed with an eclectic mix of memorabilia that allows you to get to know them from their travels and interests. They are gracious and warm and you at once feel like you are visiting friends in their home. Breakfast was offered in the dining room with a lovely assortment of fresh fruit, juices, yogurt, cheese, breads, coffee, and daily paper. Both breakfast and cocktails were enjoyed sitting on the deck by the pool sharing conversation and gaining valuable local information. The three guest rooms were ideal for our family. The house is located between the French Quarter and the Faubourg Marginy, an area often overlooked and not to be missed. To sum it up, our 26 year old son said, "I'm sad to leave. I love this place."
My husband and I stayed at Chez Palmiers while we were entertaining our cousins from Switzerland. We found this little gem on vrbo, and were more than impressed when we arrived. Schuyler and David are fabulous hosts, the house is beautiful, and the rates are so reasonable, what a great deal!!! It's within walking distance to the all the french quarter hotspots. The breakfasts were excellent as well, with a great variety. I can't wait to go back!!!!
Wow!! I stayed in the Loft Room for 3 nights- a great space! I would definitely come back and stay here again! Thank you for being up early so I could have coffee and treats before I had to leave each day! You two are wonderful!!
