Walk or ride bikes from the beach to this tropical paradise. Come in through the gate and wash off in the outside travertine shower and take a cool dip in the pool with the waterfall rushing by you. Relax in the jacuzzi or enter the pool house and turn on the steam shower. Pour a cool one from the outside poolhouse kitchen and turn on the surround sound music while returning to the pool and further relaxing in the jacuzzi. Be brave and try the waterfall slide or watch the kids/grandkids go round and round....or your significant other in the complete privacy of the back yard.
At night put the logs in the outside fireplace and turn on the overhead heaters if necessary and pretend you are at an outdoor movie theatre by bringing the large screen TV outside. And you thought it was beautiful in the day..........enchanting evenings.
I raised my two sons and their 15 close friends at the house. The furniture is done by Jones and Jones Designs of Maui. It is a very comfortable and beautiful home.
Judy Dunham purchased this estate in 1994
Steam shower in the pool house. Outdoor large wood burning fireplace. Rock speakers around the pool. Jacuzzi in pool with the waterfall slide. Outside shower and bath by jacuzzi. Master has shower with two shower heads and jets with large cast iron bathtub.
Our family, including 2 grandparents, 6 adult children and 8 grandchildren (ages 21 down to age 6) had the absolute best time staying at this wonderful Coronado property! From the super clean house to the awesome heated pool, water slide and hot tub to the pool house we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house is very spacious...starting with the open plan vaulted great room..dining room..kitchen to the 4 main floor bedrooms and 2nd floor loft large bedroom( our grandsons took over the loft and had a ball) to the nicely equipped laundry room and fantastic pool house with king bed, fireplace, bathroom and kitchen we just enjoyed our time there. The best thing about the place was that we immediately felt very comfortable and at home there. Thanks, Judy, for helping our family make a lifetime of memories there!
We stayed here for a month and had a wonderful, amazing stay. Judy the owner of the house ensured right from the first day that everything was in place for us. We were a party of 17. The kitchen was well stocked and the bedrooms are huge! Plenty of towels for both indoor and outdoor use. The games in the cupboard gave the children hours of fun. The pool was fabulous and we used it everyday. The children loved the slide and jacuzzi. The outside BBQ area allowed us to spend lots of time outside together cooking and eating while the children splashed. Judy could not have been more helpful. Thank you for an absolutely wonderful holiday. We travelled from the UK and would definitely stay again if so many of us went away again.
I almost don't won't to give this property a great review, because it will lessen the chances that it will be available the next time I'm in the San Diego area. That, however, would be selfish. Rented this property for two weeks and shared it with various parts of my extended family. It lives much bigger than it actually is. Every square inch of outside space is put to use. It was great for drinking coffee in the morning and wine by the fire in the evening. The grandkids loved the slide/pool. Comfortable beds. Plenty of places to sit in the house. The house is on a street that doesn't get much traffic. We rented a car to go to La Jolla and Torrey Pines and Disneyland, but if you just want to stay in Coronado you don't need one. You can walk to restaurants, shops and the beach. There are 3 bikes, a pack and play and a portable high chair in the garage. Miguel's and Rhinocerous Cafe were our favorite restaurants. If you get time to go to San Diego try C-Level restaurant right near the airport. It had a great view and was the best food we had during the two weeks. Caught a play at Lamb's Players Theater and it was very enjoyable. Also was walking distance from the house. The pictures accurately depict the rental. The house was well-kept and fairly well equipped. A couple of things need replacing and I will mention those to Judith. Judith is a very friendly owner. It's a great house for multi-generational groups, but really would fit about anyone. Can easily sleep 12 without any blow up beds, but with kids you could use the blow up beds that are in the closet and sleep 3 or 4 more up in the loft. All in all a great place to vacation.
This was a wonderful venue for our multi-generation family vacation! The home is in a quiet neighborhood but within close proximity to the beach. We walked, biked, paddle-boarded and spent many hours enjoying the beautiful pool and spa. I would absolutely recommend this home as a vacation rental!
We had a great family week at this VRBO. The home was exactly as advertised and the pictures appropriate. Very nice quality and ample furnishings, linens and amenities. We were a family grouping of grandparents, children and grandchildren. We all enjoyed private sleeping and closet space and the easy ability to have group dining/activities inside and outside.
Cable, Internet and many games were available.
The highlights of this rental were the heated pool, the outside paradise with lots of seating, grill, shower, lighting, heaters, fireplace, hot tub and water slide. The pool house was perfect for one couple with small child and as source of outside drinks and food. It was nice to have 2 full size refrigerators. The washer/dryer were much appreciated. We fluffed our pool towels to provide dry towels for the next morning.
We enjoyed walks and bike rides to the beach, shopping and dining. The trolley, public transportation, water taxi and ferry provided easy access to downtown San Diego, Balboa Park and the Zoo. Beaches were within walking distance for most - we did rent a car for baby seats, grocery shopping and the older and younger of the group. Coupons available at Ferry Landing Market Place.
The owner and the service providers were on call as needed and did routine visits to the home. Phone numbers for problems were available and the response was quick. Since most of our party wanted to swim early and late, we requested the pool heating program be revised slighty to accomodate this.
Some of us used taxi service to and fro the airport. Coronado Island Yellow Cab was reasonable and familiar with the streets of Coronado. The cabs grabbed at the airport, were not familiar with Coronado...they needed our help with the smart phone.
During the summer months, Coronado has weekly farmer's markets, tours, concerts, art displays in the park and other fun stuff to see and do plus free bus service to major points of the island. Don't miss the Coronado Museum of History on Orange Avenue.
We enjoy dine-in and carryout from Peohe's, Lil'Piggy BBQ, Nicky Rotter's, Miquels, Marriott, the Del, Coronado Brewing Company.
Our group was pleased with the ease of curbside recycling.
We much appreciated the attention to detail from the owner and the service providers. We were well cared for and would come back to this property. The relaxed pace of Coronado and the ease of getting over to San Diego, make this location perfect.
The house was just as advertised. It was very clean and comfortable. There was so much to do at the house between the heated pool and jacuzzi, beautiful yard, BBQ, games provided, TV/cable that we really didn't need to leave to enjoy our time. We did enjoy the beach that was within walking distance. There were a couple of usable bikes that we used a couple of times and rented more for the rest of the group to see the island.
The kitchen was very well stocked and towels and linens were available that accomodated everyone. We made most of our meals at the house but did eat at a couple of places off of Orange and loved them all!
It was a very relaxing time for all of us. I would definitely recommend this home and will go back to visit again.
We had one small issue with the plumbing in the pool house and the owner took care of it immediately.
My only recommendation is that you ask when service people will be showing up. We were caught off guard when the pool guy showed up and we were all in the backyard swimming. He needed to put chemicals in the pool and clean it and it was a little awkward not expecting it. Landscapers also showed up while we there and scared me as I wasn't expecting them in the yard. But it is because of them that the house is so nicely maintained.
