EXCELLENT HOME WITH AN INCREDIBLE VIEW!

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I were married at this home and we could not have asked for a better place! The view was stunning, the home was perfect for a small wedding, and the layout was perfect for pre-wedding visiting and such a relaxing stay! My grandmother, mother and her sisters also stayed here for a weekend and loved every minute of it! On a chilly night a hottub is the perfect thing for a relaxing night with a swim in Lake Superior to top it off! The home was spotless when we arrived both times. I highly recommend this place to anyone for any sort of stay whether it's with a few friends, family get-a-way or a romantic weekend. It's located in a very quiet location and you could not find a better view anywhere! Thanks again Jessica for everything! Our family is so grateful for letting us have our wedding here!!! We hope to rent this place again in the near future!

UPPER PENINSULA PARADISE

  • 5 of 5
Sometimes when you look forward to something with great anticipation, the reality is a letdown. That is definitely not the case with Superior Bay. From the moment the car stopped in the driveway I was spellbound by the stunning view of Lake Superior. The house was just as pictured in the ad, beautiful and clean. Our biggest decision was whether we should take the master suite with the spacious bathroom or the lone bedroom in the lower level with the fireplace. We chose the master and enjoyed the privacy it offered from the other bedrooms as well as the comfortable bed and the relaxing sound of the waves crashing on the rocky beach. The kids enjoyed running between the cool water of Lake Superior and the hot tub. They also found a favorite late night hangout, the “hot room” aka sunroom where they enjoyed warming up by the fireplace and drinking hot chocolate while playing games. When I left home I said that I was not cooking anything except for breakfast while I was on vacation. You should pick up a few more groceries in Marquette because the kitchen in this house inspires one to cook while looking out at the beautiful view. If you don’t want to cook though there is a wonderful restaurant in Big Bay called Thunder Bay Inn. There are a couple of other restaurants as well, but we never got around to trying them because the Thunder Bay was immaculate, the staff was very friendly and the food was great. We hiked to several beautiful waterfalls with varying degrees of difficulty that were all less than 5 miles from Big Bay. We visited a cinnamon sand beach that was a within a few minutes of the house by car where we found sea glass and drift wood where the kids would have splashed in the waves for hours. In the other direction from the beach there is a beautiful lighthouse that you can tour. The guide was terrific and the view of Lake Superior from the top was breathtaking even on a cold and windy day. Marquette is a beautiful city with a gorgeous park, the downtown has interesting restaurants and shops, and the waterfront is waiting to be explored. A little further down the road is Munising where you can take a glass bottom boat ride and look at sunken ships. There was a little blue fresh fish shop with amazing smoked white fish that I highly recommend. The only drawback to Superior Bay is having to pack up and leave this wonderful paradise, but I am left with wonderful memories of our short stay there.

GREAT VACATION

  • 5 of 5
We rented from 8.28 and departed 9.1.13, The place was great, The day we arrived and found that a tree had come down in the yard by the lake and took out part of the railing but it was all cleaned up and piled off to the side along with the railing replaced. The inside of this place was nicely decorated and consisted thru out with a rustic/woodsy theme. The heated 3 season room was great in the evening when the fly's were bad or when it rained. We just opened the windows and sat in there instead outside on the deck. The water was warm enough to go in,just remember to bring water shoes since it rocky/slate out there and can be slippery. I am from the area so we took the other couples that were up there with us and we did a lot of the tourist things which was a walk back down memory lane.
The day we arrived we had a note that the hot tub was out of order, they did get someone up there on Friday to fix it but we did not use it since the water was the color of root beer-not sure why that was.
The place had all the accommodations of home and we would love to rent this again next year for a week. The theme they had going thru the house was great, The extra refrigerator in the garage was indeed used since each couple brought up food for each day while we were there along with water, pop and adult beverages. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wanted a laid back, hang out with friends and or family get away. I would give this place a 5.........it is that nice.

AWESOME!

  • 5 of 5
We had a perfect vacation at Superior Bay. When we reserved the home, it was new on VRBO and didn't have reviews yet. Since I've had poor experiences in the past, I was very hesitant to take a chance. I spoke with the owner, who gladly connected me with a reference. Both were very accommodating and informative.

I need not have worried; this was one of our favorite vacation homes yet. We've stayed in homes all over the country and this was as nice as any we've rented so far. It was elegant and sophisticated without being stuffy. Everything was perfectly clean, comfortable, and well-appointed.

The views were spectacular and we loved the sound of the waves throughout our stay. Our three young children loved everything about the place, but especially the clear, shallow water and the hot tub after. We all loved the fire pit and spent many hours there each evening. The mornings were spent drinking coffee in the perfect three season room just off of the living room/kitchen. We took bike rides each day to visit the nearby lighthouse and unbelievable views of Lake Superior.

I would give this property 6 stars if possible!

WELL APPOINTED HOME IN A PRISTINE SETTING

  • 5 of 5
This was the ideal setting for my husband's family with Michigan roots to unwind and reconnect. None live there now; we traveled from DC, others from Chicago, Grand Forks and Minneapolis and it was well worth it.

The home is stocked with everything you need and is very clean. We even had a nice note from the woman who is the caretaker leaving her number and letting us know that we could contact her if we need anything.

In a pinch, shopping at Cram's market is located nearby. For more substantial items Marquette is about 45 minutes away. We absolutely loved the Marquette food co-op, Dead River Coffee Roasters and the old timey feel of Donkers in town.

The matriarch of the family sent me a text saying it was the best vacation she'd ever had.

Thanks for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home!

AUGUST STAY

  • 5 of 5
This cabin is beautiful. Our kids enjoyed swimming in Lake Superior and then a trip to the large hot tub. Almost every room has a view of the lake. We ate at the hotel in town, kayaked and travelled to Marquette to walk the pier. We hope to return some day!
