A Magical Retreat in the Woods
This pair of cabins nestled in a grove of oak and maple trees overlooking Cayuga Lake truly is a real treasure. Combining rustic charm (a real log cabin) with modern comforts (nicely renovated bedrooms, basement game room), it is a place where a large family can relax, as we did when we brought together 3 generations of our family for a week in July. The owner has done some wonderful improvements to the property and was very attentive to our needs, replacing a broken washing machine in less than 24 hours. Although the railway does form a modest barrier with the lakeshore, we only once saw a train (and from what we understand that was its last journey) -- and the tracks did not prevent us from fully enjoying the lake -- swimming, kayaking and sailing (we brought our own sailboat) -- from the small beach. The lake is beautifully clear and, except for Saturday afternoons, surprisingly calm and uncrowded even in the summer high season. We could not rate this place more highly and hope to become regular visitors.
