Photos and Description of the St Paul de Vence vacation apartment rental Air conditioned, large terrace with covered eating area, fantastic views.

Completely renovated to a very high standard, this stands alone at the entrance to the Domaine. All windows and doors have retractable fly screens & there is air conditioning. The sun is on the terrace most of the day and has two loungers, gazebo with teak table and chairs, and gas BBQ. Double doors open onto the lounge with DVD player, satellite & 32’’ plasma TV, iPod dock & CD player, WiFi connection (on request), a dining table for two and a big comfy feather filled sofa. Kitchen: washing machine/dryer, dishwasher, fridge (small freezer compartment), electric oven, grill & halogen hob. V&B crockery, Saint Andrea cutlery, Schott Zwiesel glassware. The corridor leading to the bedroom has a separate guest WC. Bedroom: a large pocket sprung double bed (twin beds on request) with Frette linen, a second 26’’ plasma TV, and modern provençal furniture. The en suite has a rain shower, toilet, & Egyptian cotton towels are supplied. French doors lead to a small terrace with a table & 2 chairs

St Paul is a medieval hilltop walled village located some 25 minutes from Nice airport, and easy driving distance from Antibes, Cannes, and St Tropez in one direction, and Eze, Monaco and Italy in the other, and close to the Alpine ski slopes. Since the 1870's the area has attracted leading painters – Cezanne, Monet, Van Gogh, Bracque, Picasso, Rouault, Rothko, César. In the 1950’s the leading lights of the French entertainment world followed – Simone Signoret, Yves Montand, Jean Paul Belmondo - as well as Hollywood stars - David Niven, Kirk Douglas, Robert Mitchum, Cary Grant - and more recently Roger Moore, Sean Connery and Rod Stewart. The Colombe d'Or restaurant is testimony to this legacy, with painters leaving their work in lieu of payment and stars their photos on the walls. This is reflected locally by the numerous art shops & galleries , and museums: Maeght foundation, Matisse (his Chapelle des Blancs in Vence is certainly worth a visit), Renoir, Picasso.

  • A Security Deposit of £400 will be required and will be returned promptly after inventory net of any bank charges.
  • Unless otherwise agreed in writing, The Gatehouse is available from 17.00 on the day of arrival and must be vacated by 11.00 on the departure day.

A wonderful autumn break in a perfect apartment

We have just returned from a lovely week at The Gatehouse apartment. The property was just as described on the website and by other reviewers - very well furnished, comfortable for two and spotlessly clean. The welcome pack was great and Melissa was extremely helpful in answering any questions we had. The view of St Paul was fantastic, although it was a bit on the chilly side to sit on the terrace too often (at this time of year it doesn't get much sun - but lots of acorns!). The area was full of beautiful hilltop villages, most with plenty of interesting art galleries.

A Perfect Place

My husband and I recently stayed at this beautiful apartment. Everything was just perfect and we could not have asked for better accommodations. It was immaculate,beautifully decorated, well equipped, and cozy when the weather turned cool. We were very impressed by the comfortable bed and the beautiful bathrooms. We felt it was as wonderful as any high quality hotel.

Both of us especially enjoyed meeting and visiting with Melissa.She provided us with a much appreciated welcome basket and helpful information about the area. Throughout all of our trip arrangements she was always quick to respond to any of our questions and eager to assist us in any way she could.

The apartment is in an excellent area for seeing the Cote d'Azure. We especially enjoyed touring the Ephrusssi de Rothschild Villa and Gardens as well as the beaches and town of Antibes. Monaco is a short train ride and an easy day trip.We also loved being so close to St. Paul de Vence and its great restaurants and shops. The view of the town from the apartment is lovely.

We would certainly recommend this apartment to anyone looking for a special place to stay.

Everything you want and more...

Just returned home from a fabulous relaxing week at The Gate Lodge.
The property was immaculately clean and provided everything you needed for a week of blissful relaxation. The fixtures and fittings were of an extremely high standard and there was nothing missing! Really appreciated the china cups and saucers which are sadly seldom used today! The excellent large swimming pool was quiet and very well maintained and a relaxing place to lie out.

The village was close by but not really in walking distance at night, although we enjoyed barbequing and watching the sun go down.

We look forward to returning as soon as possible!

Just returned from a lovely holiday in St.Paul. Great appartment, everything you could wish for, a real home from home. Really enjoyed the terrace with wonderful views of St. Paul. Very much appreciated the welcome pack on arrival and the friendliness and helpfulness of Melissa and Michael. Couldn't have been better!

Beautifully presented with every need anticipated

I spent a glorious week at this property, relaxing and enjoying the peace and luxury it offers. The proximity to the village is perfect for daily exercise, and there are so many possible places to visit, there is no chance that people who want to be very busy will be bored. I enjoyed the sense of security as I was there alone, and whilst the property is near the road it did not create problems with noise for me. Every thought has gone into equipping the apartment(which feels like a small house) with not only everything you might need but of very high quality, which is much appreciated and not very often the case. All the booking arrangements were carried out with ease and professionalism. All my questions were answered and as no doubt will be reported there were many!! Highly recommended and will certainly go back - preferably as soon as possible!
