Photos and Description of the Lewes vacation house rental
House, 4 Bedrooms, 2 Baths (Sleeps 8-9)

Welcome to the First town in the First State. The Dutch seamen landed here in 1631 and two blocks from the house is the Zwaanendael Museum to commemorate that landing. Located where the Delaware Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean, you can enjoy both bay and ocean beaches and the Lewes Rehoboth canal, which allows for access to the bay or ocean for fishing. Many of the homes in Lewes are from the 18th and 19th century and have been restored. The Historic Society created and maintains the well known Shipcarpenter Square, which has houses that have been moved from their original location and restored.

The Canal Front Park, dedicated in 2009, offers a 23 slip marina, waterfront boardwalk, Village Green, children's playground, kayak and canoe launch fishing pier, and performing arts gazebo. Explore the State Park traills and wildlife and escape to the Lewes Beach for a wonderful retreat, with parking and shower/restroom facilities for your convenience.

This home was built in 1907 and has been renovated several times. Enjoy the wrap around front porch and the back deck that overlooks the 'Secret Garden' and koi pond. This spacious 4 bedroom and 2 bath house has great charm. Enjoy the outdoor shower after a long day at the beach and cookout under the tiki torches and listen to the pond as you unwind. Walk to Lloyds Market, just one block away. This market is a mainstay in Lewes and has everything you need without ever having to move your car. Walk to 2nd street for great shopping, restaurants, entertainment, and the coffee and ice cream shop. Located just one mile to the beach and 2 miles to Rehoboth and the Tax Free Outlets.

I stayed in this house for 3 days with my sister, her son and his 2 daughters. It was charming in every way. The rooms are spacious, but adorable, with lovely antiques, quilts, and unique details throughout. Its location is perfect, being as it is within walking distance of shops, grocery stores, parks, churches, restaurants.... well, pretty much everything. We found the kitchen solidly stocked with utensils for cooking (and storing left-over restaurant meals.) Everything was spotless, indeed the cleaning team was just departing when we arrived. The secret garden with its waterfall fountain added old-world charm as well as the perfect hangout for the kids. I would recommend this property to all those seeking style as well as comfort in the heart of old town Lewes.

We stayed in this home in 2011 and it was awesome! We had a wonderful time playing cards in the beautiful secret garden. Everything we needed was at hand in the kitchen! It was very quiet, comfy sleeping..We enjoyed time at the house, Cape Henelopen and Dewey Beach. Since we were there the end of Sept. we found Rehobeth beach to be our favorite since we could park free, shop and eat right there. The beach at Rehobeth was very uncrowded and family friendly at that time of year. Lewes beach was also very nice, but had to pay to park everytime we went We went to the outlets and had a good time. Also enjoyed the local shops, including a quilt shop! We didn't really find a favorite restaurant-Crabby Dicks does give you great popcorn while you wait, and is a fun experience, even though the food was fine but not outstanding. We would love to return to this property, and would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone seeking a quiet, peaceful, fun time at the beach. We also had a good time visiting nearby Nassau Valley Winery and learning what wines go with various foods and why.
