Anini Beach is an exclusive enclave of homes located on the North Shore of Kauai. It is protected by the largest reef in the Hawaiian Islands which makes it a wonderful beach for small children. Anini Beach is so popular that it books more than a year in advance.
Noho Kai was absolutely perfect! It is ideally situated on Anini Beach Road and the beach access path was as stated, about 75 steps to the beach. It was beautifully furnished, tastefully decorated and well maintained. It was also amply stocked with things we never would have thought to bring or buy but were so helpful. The owner and manager have thought of everything! It was also immaculately clean. We loved the backyard with the beautiful plants and trees - even doing dishes at the kitchen sink overlooking the yard was a lovely experience. We liked how the living quarters were 1 story above the ground so we could keep the lanai doors open at night and hear the ocean and the birds. We were sad to leave but hope to return someday as it truly was a slice of paradise!
I can't pay this home a better compliment than by saying this: If my family were to be the sort that would own a vacation home, this would be the home we would want. We stayed at this home for a full week and couldn't have been happier. First of all, the location -- right across from Anini Beach -- is stellar. Each morning, our family woke up by snorkeling at this gem of a secluded beach. While it's not private it is certainly not crowded and the snorkeling was excellent. And then to return to breakfasts out on the lanai every morning... heaven. The kitchen is well-appointed, with everything you need to make your own meals. We spent evenings lazily reading together in the "great room," and then each portion of our family retreated to our well-appointed bedrooms. The setup seemed made for our family, actually. Two young daughters slept in the bedroom with twin beds while their parents took the bedroom on that same side of the house; the matriarch of the family had privacy in her bedroom/bath on the other side of the house. Keep in mind the back yard is a huge bonus as well, usually populated with island-appropriate roosters and a neighbor's cat.
If you are planning any excursions with the Princeville Ranch, or planning to tour the Botanical Gardens (both of which we also highly recommend), this property is ideally located.
One note for those of you who come from more humid climates and who may be used to air conditioning in warm weather: You will not need A/C here. Between the trade winds (captured through every window's louvers) and the ceiling fans in every room, this property was completely comfortable 24/7 in August. This property's manager was very understanding when we asked questions about this issue, and we now know from experience: You do not need air conditioning on Kauai... at least when you're staying at a property as considerately built as this one.
We're already dreaming about coming back someday.
This property is SUPERB, from its well maintained lush tropical landscape (complete with resident feral chickens for the kids' delight) to the comfortable and tasteful island decor inside. The house is welcoming, airy, practical, pristine and fully stocked with everything your little heart could desire! Our family felt immediately at home in our own little slice of paradise, just steps away from our now favorite Anini Beach where we marveled at glorious sunrises and sunsets, snorkeled in our own little bay, swam with sea turtles and relaxed in the warm sand. The location is private but with easy access to the main highway for other island attractions and activities. Beautiful Noho Kai is #1 in our book, and we can't wait to visit again!
My husband and I, my son and daughter-in-law and two granddaughters spent an amazing 5 nights at Noho Kai. It is a spacious, airy, bright, spotless property just minutes from the beach. There is a huge back yard and several separate lanai (porches) for outdoor lounging, relaxing, open-air breakfasts. The place is so incredibly equipped--all linens and towels, beach towels, beach chairs, paper towels and TP, dishes, utensils of every kind, spices, staples, books, DVDs, laundry soap--it doesn't feel like a rental at all, but a home where the hosts have thought of everything. We truly had a wonderful stay. You will not be disappointed!
Noho Kai is a wonderful find on Kauai. The property manager was a 5 star host.
Just back from Paradise. Kauai is an amazing part of mother nature. We spent countless hours, am & pm on Anini beach. The white sand & black coral, the calm reef & furious waves (20 foot swells this week) The air was sweet with pulmeria. We surfed, paddled, hiked, swam, beach combed & ate plenty of pineapple, mangos & papaya's. Go to Hanalei, The lighthouse & the Na Pali Coast.
'Anini Beach is better than Bali. The snorkeling is wonderful right from the beach, e.g., reefs, fish, turtles. And there is a "path" to the beach directly across from the home. The house is right out of 'The Descendants' movie. We four women had a delicious time: one of us just wanted to stay at the house and relax, enjoy, read. Perfect. Others of our group walked the beach, swam, snorkeled, and took Capt Bob's Na Pali Sea Breeze catamaran tour directly from our rental (from 'Anini Beach). And, wow, is the house well provisioned! We'd brought food stuffs, e.g., condiments, oils, spices. No need. This spacious, commodious house is fully stocked and ready to be enjoyed! So, lucky you, enjoy it!
