The villa is situated in a small complex of five villas. It is set back from the road and accessed by electric gates. The villa is well furnished and has terraced areas to both the front and back. There is a built in BBQ at the back of the property and a gate that leads to the communal swimming pool. Please note swimming pool is only open at certain times of the year, and use of it is entirely at the discretion of the condominium manager. The bedrooms are all well sized and there is 1 shower room and 1 bathroom. There is a living room and fully equipped kitchen. Within a 1 to 2 minute walk there are several supermarkets and a market selling fresh produce. There is a good selection of bars, cafes and restaurants all within walking distance and a number of shops and a bank. The beautiful sandy beach is only a 5 to 10 minute walk away. There are golf courses within a 5 to 10 minute drive and the golf courses of Vilamoura can be reached in approx 45 mins by car.

Altura is situated in the Eastern Algarve approximately 15 minutes drive from Tavira and about 1hour 25mins by car from Seville in Spain. Altura is about 10 mins drive from the Spanish border. It is approx. 40 mins drive from Faro airport. Altura has a superb sandy beach and there is also a beautiful sandy beach in the neighbouring village of Manta Rota.

  • A 20% deposit is payable at the time of booking. The balance is due 8 weeks prior to departure and at this time a £100 returnable damage deposit is payable and will be refunded providing no damage has occurred.
    Please note there maybe supplements payable during public holidays such as christmas, new year and easter.
    Also a reduction may be available when the number of occupants is limited to 2 people. A discount may be available when the villa is rented for 2 weeks or more. Please note the minimum period for rental is one week.

A tight fit for 5

We stayed at the house in 2005 ( 2 adults and 2 teenage girls). The house is located in the heart of Altura (an uncommercialised and pleasant resort) near to all amenities and in a gated community, however the house itself was clean but not equipped for more than three people. It lacked enough seats both inside and outside, and could seat no more than 3 people which resulted in us not all being able to sit in the kitchen or the lounge at the same time and was generally sparsely furnished and kitted out. The house lacked air conditioning which makes it very hot and stuffy in the summer months - only fans provided. The pool was unusable too which meant that we had to go to the beach everyday. Although we passed our observations and comments on to the owner we felt that they were not received positively. Could be suitable for a couple during the off peak months.

Good choice, but not for everyone

Nicely presented villa at the heart of Altura village and close to the local market and supermarkets.
Still a fair walk to the beach, mostly by streets that lack proper sidewalks.
Lovely outdoor space with nice BBQ set, made dinners and evenings relaxed and pleasant.
Main issue is the swimming pool, as it is not always available > better have owner to confirm.
Overall, good value for money, but only if you are not that keen in having a swimming pool.
