As the apartment is so centrally located, walking in any direction will bring you to places of interest. Turn left out of the front door heading south towards Plaza de la Ayuntamiento with its fountains. splendid main post office and beyond the modernista Estacion del Norte; or west, across Calle San Vicente where every procession seems to pass, you’ll find the central market, one of the largest in Europe. Opposite the market is La Lonja the elegant medieval silk exchange. A short step north takes you to Plaza de la Reina, crammed with outdoor cafes and dominated by the cathedral. Moving on from there you soon reach barrio del Carmen, the hub of the city’s nightlife. Turn right at the front door and round the corner to the east is the exuberant baroque Palacio de Dos Aguas which houses the ceramics museum, across the road is the lovely old university building and from there it's just a short hop to the main shops on Calle Colon.
